Alpo Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Boy oh boy, do I love cell phone cameras. On the plus side, I suppose it is better than no camera at all. You remember a week or so back I posted some pictures of a hawk that was sitting on my fence. Well now he is sitting on my clothesline pole. This is from just outside the back door. Maybe 20 or 30 feet. Camera set on eight times magnification (high as it will go). Then we go into the photo editing and we crop it a little bit and see if we can make it bigger. Little bit. This is through my bedroom window. My bedroom window has double pane glass and somehow it is dirty between the panes. It does not come clean. 3 2 Quote

watab kid Posted July 20 Posted July 20 they are majestic , used to have a blue herron that fished off the rock in the rinver in my back yard daily , dont see him anymore , used to have a pair of great horned owls that would move into the yard from time to time to cull our squills , they dont visit as ofdten now but there is at least one bald eagle that visits the yard often enough that we watch the dog pretty close these days , 3 Quote
Jimmy Reb, SASS #54804 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 It's a 40 mile drive through range country to get to church. Nearly always see some kinds of hawks. And every once in a while a bald eagle. 1 Quote

Pat Riot Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Cooper’s Hawk https://www.birdadvisors.com/hawks-florida/ We have a mating pair of them that took up residency nearby last year. Their nest is WNW of me but I don’t know exactly where. I do know when one of them is in the vicinity of my house because the littler birds hide and do not eat. Thie is a photo of a House Sparrow “scout” checking if all is clear after a Hawk was hanging out for a few hours the other day. (top center lattice opening.) Each species of bird sends scouts to see if the coast is clear. 🙂 Here is one of the Cooper’s Hawks that live nearby. She was keeping an eye on the bird feeders up close and personal. At least I think that’s a female. Here is a 40x zoom shot of one of the hawks up in a tree surveying the area. 2 3 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted July 21 Posted July 21 The one we get here I believe to be a Merlin. Possibly a Cooper's. It's so quick, hard to be sure! Nice pix Pat! 1 Quote
