Pretend, for just a minute, that you are Superman.

You are standing in a room full of people, dressed as yourself. And somebody says he's going to prove that you are Superman. He pulls out a gun and shoots you.

Would you just stand there and let him shoot you, so that everyone sees that you are in fact Superman? Or would you faster than a speeding bullet change into your Superman suit, and still stand there and let him shoot you?

An episode of the television show Superman and Lois. And that happened. And I just sat there thinking - why did he change? He could have dodged the bullet. He couldn't have dropped to the floor. But he didn't. He became Superman.

I'm pretty sure everyone in the diner realized that he was Superman - that he was not fooling anyone.

I have not seen that particular episode. I don't know what led up to it, and I don't know what happened afterwards. I have just seen that video clip on YouTube.

I would definitely fell to the ground and pretend I was shot and then got up and kicked the crap out of the guy and pretend like I was just wounded slightly! Then I would have taken off and tell everyone I was going to the hospital and left in breakneck speed! 🙄

Why not just super-speed grab the bullet, disable the gun, tap the guy unconscious, put the bullet in your pocket and pretend none of it happened....all in a super blink of an eye movement that no one could see?

Hey, I can get as unrealistically SF as anyone else.

That happened in several episodes of the 1950s Adventures of Superman tv show. Clark Kent always managed to come up with some clever explanation that the other characters in the scene credulously bought into.

That last season of the show they were basically just phoning it in. WB told them to shut it down to make room for the new DC movie series. Which is a BIG flop.

If that scene hadn't just been a plot hole to reveal Superman's identity, he probably could have turned aside just enough to have the bullet miss him while at the same time deflecting it with his hand enough to not hit the waitress behind him.

I agree with the super speed thing.

Kirk Alyn and George Reeves always had to going to the store room or run into an alley or go hide behind the mountain top to change.

Chris Reeves was fast enough that he could run in the revolving door and when he came out the other side he was Superman.

Dean Cain would just - swish - and he was Superman. He was quick. I liked that one. If he could fly that fast and run that fast he ought to be able to change clothes that fast.

In the first Chris Reeves one, Lois tries to fight back against a mugger, and he shoots her. Clark bumps her to the side, snatches the bullet out of the air and then pretends to faint. The mugger runs off.

For what it's worth (which ain't much!) a few nights ago I plopped exhausted into my recliner and turned on the tube (which ain't a tube no more, incidentally).  Anyway, when I flipped the channed to Prime, there was the 2025 Superman movie.  Having enjoyed Superman since 1955, I naturally tuned in.

The new "Supergirl" movie is even worse. Hollywierd keeps trying to make movies for their mythical "modern" audience, and then wondering why nobody goes to see the movie. They keep wanting to put their "spin" on the story, while not understanding the the Source Material is what people that like it want to see.

So far they've killed Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Marvel, Willow, and now D.C. Probably more that I can't come up with right now.

If I were really Superman, I wouldn't have (nor need) any friends who felt like they needed to carry a gun to

prove my reality.

AND.....if I were Superman, I would have used my 'laser vision' to suddenly melt the barrel.... or atleast the bullet... when it

exited the barrel to insure NOBODY got hurt.

As for being a Super Hero, I prefer to use my ability of 'Invisability' to help keep me from being shot..... :)

..........Widder. (now you see me.....now you don't)
