Rem-Marlin 1894 44m one piece trigger

Hi,

 

looking for a good one-piece trigger solution for my Rem-Marlin 1894 44mag rifle.  RESPECTFULLY,  I’d like to hear from those that have successfully upgraded their Rem-Marlin.  And yes, I know that the Remlins are not the most desirable rifle’s ‘specially for SASS.
 

I tried the Sure Hit Phantom trigger but it would not engage the light Boogie or OEM trigger spring. It just flopped in place while the OEM two-piece trigger engages both springs just fine.  It’s as if the back hump is too small.

I've always liked the 'Trigger Happy' system, although its a 2-piece trigger/sear system.

 

For a great ONE piece set up, its hard to beat SLATER's trigger setup.

He properly angles the sear (upper piece) to the trigger (lower piece) and welds them together.

 

His trigger setups for the 1894 Marlin and the Henry .22 rifles are really nice and reliable.

 

EDIT: when I was doing the Widdermatic Marlin mods, I always recommended SLATERS 

trigger work, which to me, puts the icing on the cake for a great Marlin.

thanks Widder,  I’ll have a look at the Trigger Happy system.  This isn’t a match or a highly desirable rifle so I’m trying to limit how much I invest in it.

I would love to have a new Ruger/Marlin .44 for SASS.👍

Been run'n mine in SASS for well over 20+years.

What are you hoping to gain with this new trigger?  🤔

If it's easier cycling, look at a lighter hammer spring from Wolff Gunsprings. 

Also, you want the 1 piece firing pin.

I would love to have one too!  Mine is a 2006ish Remington Marlin 1894.  One of my mentors, got one of the new classic Ruger Marlins right after they came out and it is really nice

 

i replaced the lever lock and hammer Springs, magazine tube spring and follower with upgrades from Long Hunter and replaced the trigger spring and steel firing pin with Boogie’s and installed a Sure Claw extractor while I was in there. I added a lever wrap and an On-Target slip on brass front sight as well.

 

At this point, I just want to get rid of the sharp OEM trigger and it’s flop and polish all the internals to smooth it out.  I really liked the Flat face of the Sure hit phantom trigger and was bummed that it didn’t work.

Remove the trigger and use a round Arkansas stone to round the edges.

im going to be totally honest here - no opinions offered , i ordered a remlin in 4570 at the time the transir=tion was occurring , i was working part time for the owner of DPMS ,  was n=met by a rep from remington that told me id never get the rifle - based on that time frame - but because i ordered it from that FFL - owner of the gun range i was told it would not be delivered, i was  given some nice bullets and i pulled my order , i fully understand what happened and why , been around the gun buisness long enough and have enough friends in the industry , been happy with my quigly sharps ever since

I reinstalled the lightest of the two hammer springs that came with the Boogie kit and took it to the range today.  Save the OEM trigger flop,  the rifle is now very smooth.  I ordered a Ranger Pount precision trigger for it which should hopefully work.

I tried the Trigger Happy in my 45-70 Marlin, found out it could go off out of battery. Contacted the seller, they would do nothing about it, put the stock trigger back in, safe again.

  For my cowboy match gun I take about a 1/8" off the bottom of the stock trigger and round it off real good, that has stopped the trigger bite for me.

Final Update:

 

took a $700 stiff Remington Marlin 1894 POS and made it into a slickly  $1100 Remington-Marlin 1894.

 

the final upgrades were to add a Raven Point Precision Quick Release lever screw and an RPP custom trigger that in conjunction with my SB trigger spring and light hammer spring sets the trigger pull at 1lb 0.1 oz!

 

I installed a PGW mag spring, SS follower, Sure Hit super claw extractor & slip on brass front sight, and a SB one piece steel firing pin and lightweight lever release spring and polished the top of the hammer.

 

while Its not a WIDDERMAGIC or a Slick Slater, I “done it myself” and pretty proud that I managed to do so without making it FUBAR! 🤠

Howdy Tall John.

 

Glad to hear your work has paid off for you and you have a fine Marlin now.

As for the Widdermatic, those particular mods are similar to what you have done, with one of the exceptions being the Angle/Slant carrier modification.

And the Widdermatic was only recommended for Marlins that had some issues in feeding, especially during fast cycling.

 

If you will notice my first statement on Marauder's website about the Widdermatic, I state that if a Marlin is running well with no

issues, there is no need for the Widdermatic mod.   Many Marlins run well from the factory when Marlin produced them.

 

Most of the Remington made Marlins were problematic and I'm glad you got your running well.   Congratulations.
