Enjoying the best glass of iced tea I’ve ever had. And the fire fighters left merry two hot tubs!🤣

The fire got pretty close. 23 paces by my count. The small canyon is on my neighbor’s property about 50 yards from my driveway. It funneled the flame north like the firecrew chief told me he anticipated. And that’s where they stopped it!
The only smoke in the air right now is from the Babylon fire over in Utah which is in the process of coming over the Abajo mountains and threatening the town of Monticello about 40 miles from here.
Last pic is a Sikorsky Helitanker

Thanks for the photos.

From what I could tell from the maps,  it looks like they held the line right at County Road N, which I gather is your access road.

There were a few times that the overlay showing the winds made me sure it would jump the road. Those crews must have worked like Stakhanovites on speed to beat it back.

Glad you’re safe and back at LBR!!

Don’t drink too much of that tea!!  Ya’ might drown in your own tea pee and after all of the fire and smoke, that’d be a terrible thing to happen! 🤨 🤣

Too close by 1,000 paces.

St. Florian was working overtime for them.

That's great news. Now it's time to unload the truck, have a drink and get some sleep!

Unload, no. Drink, yes!

Any damage? 🤔

None other than a lot of trees cut down. Not a problem.

Hey, Bubba, when this is all over you're welcome to come down here to get away from it all for a....uh!  Wait!  We're on fire, too.  Not a really big one right now, but every day there seems to be a new one someplace near by.

Stay in touch.

Don't you still have to fix your swamp cooler? 🤔

Yup. The motor arrived today. Also have to get the new stove set up. And replace some spoiled food.

It never ends.

The "Bucksnort" wildfire of 2000. I was surrounded by the fire, so by the time it got to my house, the fire front was pretty small, but still it's pretty scary to see all that flame just a few yards off your wooden deck... and cedar sided house... in every direction you look. I had probably 50+ firefighters camped out here, two school buses for moving the fire crews around, twenty brush trucks, pumpers, and tankers staged, a fuel tanker, and a Skycrane helitanker.

When the P3 retardant bomber would make a run, the tools hit the ground and they all pulled out cameras. I asked one of them why, I mean they see this every day throughout the summer. He said they send them in to "Wildfire" and "Wildland Firefighter" magazines, and if one gets published, they get paid for it. OK, that makes sense.
