Dick Pinkerton SASS# 87592 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I was looking at a 7½" but I've been watching too many spaghetti westerns and Col. Mortimer has got me itching for an even longer revolver! I can get a new 10" Uberti .45 for about $50 less than a 7½", but to me that's not enough of a price difference to make the decision. Obviously the long barrel looks silly and isn't too practical, but it just feels good in my hand? I dunno how, but it handles much better than I would've expected for something that looks so wacky. Anybody got a good reason I should (or shouldn't) get a Buntline ? 3 Quote

But it is also a lot of fun to use it in a main match. Especially when pairing it with the matching Sheriff's model. To be honest, I have used the two of them together more often than the other two. And when I have matching holster and people are expecting another long barrel thing to come out, and instead the short one does, people say, "WHAT?" Quote

Plus, if you don't buy it, your money will just go to someone else or something else and you would have missed out on enjoying something you have a desire for. I'm drawn to shorter barrel pistols, BIG BORE Revolvers, and .22 pistols. Instead of leaving my $ for my family to waste, I'm leaving my 2 grand daughters with matching Browning BuckMark pistols and 3 S&W model 41's to fight over. Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Back when I was young, I bought a pair of Ruger Old Armies, customized by Rowdy Yates out in California. He put 12" barrels on them. They were a flat-out hoot to shoot. I used them in Josey Wales matches, long range matches, and the occasional monthly match. Life is short, so shoot what you find just too cool for words. I really enjoyed mine for many years, and finally sold them off, when they got too heavy for me to comfortably hold. --Dawg 10 Quote

I keep thinking I should buy it, but then I think of how long it will take to pay it off, yet I keep finding myself driving by the shop. I have two Colt buntlines and since I don’t care a hill of beans whether I win a match I have shot one of the two. AND have walked around Tombstone wearing one!! Now not a fan of the 10” because I grew up watching Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson but if I didn’t have the 2 Colts I might be persuaded. Enjoy the guns you want to shoot!! 3 Quote

The confused looking fellow with the ridiculous straw hat is yours truly. I had a lot of fun the day I wore all this. Brought 3 friends to the shoot. Notice the holster on my left hip that the Buntline goes in. Technically speaking, it's a crossdraw holster that should be on the right for left handed draw. But I have found that the slight cant allows for much easier strong side draw than if it were hanging straight down. The out and back pull is a bit easier than straight up with the long barrel.
