I've bought some carry guns recently and something to carry around in the bush in case of hostile bear encounter.

S&W Model 60
S&W Bodyguard
Walther PPK/S
Ruger Alaskan in .454

All the guns ran great, sights were all on from the factory.  I now have no qualms now about carrying any of them.  No misfeeds, no jams, everything on target.  And the recoil from the Alaskan (.454 Casull) was quite manageable.  Went through several hundred rounds.  Wife shot the 2 .380's a fair bit too.

I love a trip to the range with no surprises.

Doc,

Can you recommend a motel in McCall?

The missus and I are thinking about a few days side trip, perhaps a place to shoot?

Depends on your budget and what you're looking for.  None of them are inexpensive this time of year.

The only place to shoot I know of is the range in Cascade, and membership is required (I am a member).  Though they do have a cowboy shoot the 4th Saturday through Sept.

Let me know when you're here.

Hotel McCall is right in the center of town.  Can't go wrong with that.  If you want more upscale, the Shore Lodge.  If you prefer more budget, there's a Super 8.  And stuff in between.  The only one I have personal experience with is the Super 8, basic hotel room.  We've eaten at the restaurants at Shore Lodge, quite good.
