I helped at a fire in Northern Ontario, many years ago, and saw how quickly it could jump in the winds. It crossed a major paved highway and a small river. Exot is not a problem. I used to fight these things, never had to run away. Well….maybe once or twice when things got hairy.😉 They have 2 air tankers, two spotters and 2 choppers on it now. 2 2 Quote

Texas Maverick Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I have hunted all over that area when I lived outside of Denver. A friend lived in Dolores and always invited me down to hunt deer and elk. I hate seeing all the fires that are now burning and have read firefighters are spread thin all over the western region and very little containment on most of the fires. Beautiful country being burned. All that said now I will add what the others have stated. Take care and make sure to allow plenty of time to get out. Don't take any chances with your life. The slurry tankers should be dropping fire lines to protect homes. They have been battling the Pocket Fire here in Arizona now for a while and are finally making headway. The area west/northwest of Oak Creek Canyon won't look the same in our lifetime. 1 2 Quote
