Now he did a very good job of justifying why you need to have this gun or that gun or the other gun. But the problem is that he was justifying it. Because if you justify something, you're automatically in the wrong.

 

No one will ask you, in that accusing tone of voice, why you have a Chihuahua or why you drive a red car or even why you've decided to be vegan. That's none of their business. And they know that's none of their business and they don't ask

 

But they feel they have the right do you get all up in your face and want to know WHY DO YOU NEED!!???

 

And if you come up with a reason why you need it, no matter how good the reason is, you are justifying it which means you must be wrong.

Every time somebody says why would you need a gun like that I always do the same thing. I tell them they need to change the question because the answer will always be it's not about a need, it's a right, and that will always be the end of the conversation so they'll never get anywhere. I ask them if they will change the question to why would anybody pick that gun, that way you can have a real discussion and finally make some progress. As soon as they agree then I can tell them all the reasons for choosing something like that, and there's a lot of reasons.

IF I answer that question, it is Absolutely NOT to justify a DAMNED thing!!  The person asking has stuck their nose into my business, which is very likely NONE of theirs!!

 

For that, they will receive the reasons that I stated above in that order and they should take it as a warning! That I acknowledged them at all should warn them that they have aggravated me and have overstepped their boundaries.  Those people are the ones that I delight in putting in their place!!

In the last decade, I almost had to shoot an aggressive  dog but the owner called it off just in time. Also got worried once I might have to shoot someone but that threat left.

 

The grabbers like to use the definition of use as actually firing in self defense, and do not acknowledge a holstered gun or bedside gun as being used for self defense. So therefore not needed.

 

So with the grabber definition, I can still say I have never needed my gun or used it for self defense. Also hope I never need to.

 

Of course this is a carefully worded response, my preferred response would rhyme with:

good enough reason to me - who has the right to take it away is the second question i hve when the 2nd amendment says the right shall not be abridged - there are a lot of gun lws that should be held unconstitutional including the one regarding machine guns , i think the constitutions rules have been violated a lot

Nobody really asks me that question. My wife doesn't even ask that - the only question she ever has is when do we go pick it up.

If I ever get asked I will probably say either it's my right, not a need, or just snort, giggle and walk away.

When my wife was still alive she bought me a bunch of guns over our 51 years together.  My daughter has bought me three handguns and my son bought me a shotgun and a rifle.  Ammo, cleaning gear, etc are found in Christmas stockings, show up at birthdays, and sometimes just because.

 

For my 50th birthday I got a .49 round ball in a tiny little canvas sack with a red ribbon card that read "there are 49 more.  Find them."  It took about three weeks, but I got them all.  Then we went up Lytle Creek and shot them all up in an afternoon. 

 

We are a gun family.

That's interesting. I got a 22 rifle for my 18th birthday, and my wife gave me a 1911 for our 7th anniversary. Only two guns I've ever received as gifts.

 

Doing a count just now, I come up with 20 that I've given away.

 

Just seems like it's supposed to work the other way.
