On June 1, 2026, at approximately 2:09 a.m., officers assigned to the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division located a white Ford Edge near Tennessee Street and Mare Island Way. Officers conducted a records check on the vehicle's license plate and discovered it had been reported stolen in Vallejo and was assigned to a Ford Explorer.

Based on the circumstances, officers conducted a high-risk felony traffic stop and safely detained the vehicle's occupants without incident.

During the investigation, officers conducted a records check of the vehicle's identification number and discovered the Ford Edge itself had also been reported stolen in Vallejo.

The driver told officers she had purchased the vehicle earlier that day for approximately $2,500. However, when officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, he reported the vehicle stolen and stated he did not know the driver. The driver was unable to provide proof of purchase for the vehicle.

During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers found a loaded, unserialized firearm inside a bag on the front passenger floorboard. A records check revealed that the passenger was a convicted felon due to domestic violence, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft, making him prohibited from possessing firearms.

During the investigation, both the driver and passenger denied knowledge of the firearm. Based on the totality of the circumstances and evidence recovered, the driver was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle, and the passenger was arrested for firearm-related offenses.

Both the driver and passenger were booked into the Solano County Jail.

The stolen vehicle was removed from the stolen vehicle system, returned to its rightful owner, and the license plate was entered into evidence.

This case highlights how proactive patrol enforcement and thorough investigations continue to help officers recover stolen property, remove illegal firearms from the community, and hold offenders accountable.

Iver Johnson 22. I bet you if they took the grips off they would find a serial number stamped on the frame underneath the grip. I'm pretty sure that's where they used to put them in the old black powder days.

Looks like it's got a new barrel put on it, but with that dent in it I would kind of be afraid to shoot it.

I thought the driver was responsible for everything in the car. My understanding was that was the reasoning behind open container - if I'm driving and you're drinking a beer, I get arrested for open container.

So if the driver is responsible for the gun, why did the passenger get arrested? I could see if he had it in his pocket, but it was in a bag on the floorboard. Not in his possession. They considered that it was in his possession because it was on his side of the transmission hump?

well the cylinder has a square bolt notch , that makes it a smokeless cyl.

If both of them have easy access to it, they can both get charged.

In California if no one fesses up they both get charged. 
 

Judging by the looks of that gun they should also be charged with being stupid in public just ‘cause.
