Mentioned to a friend my conversations on this forum, and he asked if I would like to purchase his subject pistol, as he's lost interest in it.  

 

It's in fine shape, with a low round count.  4 3/4 barrel in .45 Colt.  His asking price is half of what they're going for.  

 

Seems like it would make a good plinker and practice piece.  

 

50 rounds of factory ammo included.

 

I'm inclined to say yes, unless I'm advised otherwise.

Just remember that the cost of just about any firearm will be dwarfed over the years by the cost of the ammo you need to use, .45 Colt being one of the more expensive rounds. If you are good with that, then it sounds like a pretty good deal. Worst case you could buy the gun, have some fun plinking with the included 50 rounds, then sell the gun and potentially make a little gas money.

I'd say go for it.

For that price, it's well worth it.

Don't worry about the cost of the .45.   You'll save oodles of money by reloading your own.   Yes, .38's can loaded for even less, but the .45 is a great fun cartridge to own and shoot.

I must have at least a dozen SASS type pistols in the caliber, more than any other.   I've also got various .44's and .32's   For .38's, I've got some .38 S&W, .38/44 and .38 Long Colt, but not a single .38 Special or .357 Magnum.   Nothing wrong with those last two, but for some reason, they just don't interest me in a SASS context.

It’s a rebranded Taurus Gaucho. The Gaucho was problematic and discontinued. Taurus service is horrible.

That being said I had two in Sundance Stainless, one was sent back, six months later it was fixed. I sold them to friend and he still uses them, though he doesn’t shoot much cowboy action anymore.

I run a Deputy in that exact configuration. It's a decent gun for the price, but I have noticed a few particular issues that are no big deal when you are aware of them.

1. Cylinder end shake is significant. 

2. The base pin doesn't come out without the help of some pliers. 

3. This is one that ruined a stage for me: When you don't let the hammer down correctly the whole gun locks up, hammer, cylinder, and trigger. When you lower the hammer, just make sure you hold the trigger until the hammer is all the way down.
