Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 (edited) Before going shooting with a friend this morning I stopped off and got breakfast at Jen's. A couple at the next table commented that it looked like the 'perfect breakfast', with all five of the Basic Food Groups: Sugar, salt, starch, cholesterol, and caffein. Works for me. ;D Edited June 6 by Forty Rod SASS 3935 4 6 Quote

Horace Patootie, SASS #35798 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Many years ago, if we weren't busy at work, we would go eat breakfast. I would get some kind of platter with pancakes, bacon or sausage, two eggs and hash browns. It was great. I also weighed about 250 in those days. Now down to 184. Horace 3 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted June 6 Posted June 6 2 pints of stout, big chunk of dark rye bread with farmer's cheese, and some pickled cucumbers, onions, and garlic. 1 1 Quote
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 (edited) Biscuits, thick rich sausage gravy, bacon, coffee with sugar, fresh squose OJ, tabasco sauce, salt and black pepper, and ice water. I get that about twice a week. Edited June 8 by Forty Rod SASS 3935 3 1 Quote

Sounds like a good old traditional breakfast.....at least it wouldn't be out of place at our table. My wife loved fresh caught pan fried trout with sourdough toast and orange marmalade, non-caf coffee and white grape juice. 1 Quote

I want from 293 pounds just short of four years ago to 196 this morning. I'm trying for 185. Damned expensive: Nothing fits any more except my socks. Edited June 8 by Forty Rod SASS 3935 1 1 Quote

You can have my share of the okra. One of the few things that I don't like. I've tried 3 or 4 brands of pickled okra, plus some homemade. I've tried okra breaded and deep fried. I've had it stir-fried, parmesan, stewed. Just don't care for it. 2 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Bacon, eggs, toast and coffee will do me just fine. To each his own but that’s my perfect breakfast. 1 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) Four egg omelette with pepper jack and American cheese, good chorizo, peppers, onions, and chopped bacon, a side of country ham, sliced tomatoes, spicy salsa, and biscuits and sausage gravy! Chase all that down with large quantities of sweet iced tea and then retire to the recliner for a couple of days in a cozy food coma!!🤣 Edited June 7 by Blackwater 53393 1 Quote

One of my favorite cafes has a corned beef reuben sandwich with a mustard and mayo dip, fries and a wonderful dill pickle (don't know where they get them, but they are mighty good). I just wish they'd get some decent coffee but Dr. Pepper gets me by. 1 Quote

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 It doesn't matter to me when the meal is during the day. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner , supper, snack or banquet, I eat whatever strikes my fancy...and I have a lot of scars on my poor old stricken fancy. 2 Quote
