Before going shooting with a friend this morning I stopped off and got breakfast at Jen's.

A couple at the next table commented that it looked like the 'perfect breakfast', with all five of the Basic Food Groups:

Sugar, salt, starch, cholesterol, and caffein.

Works for me.  ;D

Leaning toward pancakes and syrup with coffee.  And some bacon.

Many years ago, if we weren't busy at work, we would go eat breakfast.  I would get some kind of platter with pancakes, bacon or sausage, two eggs and hash browns. It was great. I also weighed about 250 in those days.  Now down to 184.

2 pints of stout,  big chunk of dark rye bread with farmer's cheese, and some pickled cucumbers,  onions, and garlic.

Biscuits, thick rich sausage gravy, bacon, coffee with sugar, fresh squose OJ, tabasco sauce, salt and black pepper, and ice water.

I get that about twice a week.

Sounds like a good old traditional breakfast.....at least it wouldn't be out of place at our table.

My wife loved fresh caught pan fried trout with sourdough toast and orange marmalade, non-caf coffee and white grape juice.

Not bad.  I want from 293 pounds just short of four years ago to 196 this morning.  I'm trying for 185.

Damned expensive: Nothing fits any more except my socks.

Get rid of the cucumbers, onions and garlic and I’m in with butter on that dark rye.

It's my Slavic roots. Pickled vegetables at any/every meal. Or as a snack.

Pickled okra is good. Haven't had that in years. Spicy pickles are darn  good too.

You can have my share of the okra. One of the few things that I don't like. I've tried 3 or 4 brands of pickled okra, plus some homemade.

I've tried okra breaded and deep fried.

I've had it stir-fried, parmesan, stewed. Just don't care for it.

I'm with you on this one.  Not for me either.

Bacon, eggs, toast and coffee will do me just fine. To each his own but that’s my perfect breakfast.

Or substitute bacon for sausage or corned beef hash. Definitely nothing pickled!!

Four egg omelette with pepper jack and American cheese, good chorizo, peppers, onions, and chopped bacon, a side of country ham, sliced tomatoes, spicy salsa, and biscuits and sausage gravy!

Chase all that down with large quantities of sweet iced tea and then retire to the recliner for a couple of days in a cozy food coma!!🤣

Yep! Too early for vodka or rakija.

I suppose you could add pickled eggs.

I used to mix the hash browns with over easy eggs and add Cholula hot sauce.

One of my favorite cafes has a corned beef reuben sandwich with a mustard and mayo dip, fries and a wonderful dill pickle (don't know where they get them, but they are mighty good).

I just wish they'd get some decent coffee but Dr. Pepper gets me by.

ill go with the stout and add toaste to my plate with the bacon and the eggs but no pancakes or syrup - thats too sweet that early in the morning - but late night maybe - if i stayed up late anymore - nothing after midnight goes well for me anymore nor bodes well for the next morning

It doesn't matter to me when the meal is during the day.  Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner , supper, snack or banquet, I eat whatever strikes my fancy...and I have a lot of scars on my poor old stricken fancy.
