Memorial Day in the United States is the semi-official start of the Summer Vacation Saason. https://www.mos.org/article/happy-cross-quarter-day Astronomically, the Summer Solstice is the start of Summer. Meteorlogically it's Midsummer, and Beltane is the start of summer. That's why "Midsummer Night's Dream" is set at the Summer Solstice, and, on the same system, "In the Bleak Midwinter" is about Christmas and the Winter Solstice. Correct, June 20 is the Summer Solstice. 70’s here but we’ve had a few 80’s and it was real muggy. The next 8 days are supposed to be 70’s and sunny and dry! Perfect! 1 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 We’ve already hit 90f a couple of times here! Schools are out, folks are heading off on vacation, and the bugs are starting to swarm, (especially the ticks, wasps, and ants!) so while the calendar may not say it and maybe there’s another cool spell in progress, it’s certainly summer like around here!! 3 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Usually here in California Memorial Day sees clear and sunny, with temperatures in the low 80s. Sometimes in the 90s. This year, I think it hit 64 and was overcast. Yesterday we hit upper 60s. Today we have rain (0.36" as of 05:20) and temperature is forecast for mid-60s. Quote
Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 We went from below average temperatures (upper 50s-low 60s) to above average temperatures (80s-90) overnight. Sunny and low humidity, but we skipped the middle temps altogether. Quote

It sent me into paralysis by analysis and I couldn't conjure up a cogent thought for 5 days. 3 Quote
