Will soaking in salt water take blood out of material?

 

I know if you have a piece of bloodshot meat, soaking it in salt water will draw the blood out. I've done that.

 

And I've heard on television and movies that soaking your bloodstain cloth in club soda will get the blood out. Never tried that but I've heard it.

 

But for some reason I just started wondering whether saltwater would work the same way as club soda. Or maybe even better.

 

Anyone know? Anyone tried?

I've had good luck with Tide To Go.  It's in a felt tip sort of thing and travels well.

 

Apply it to the spot and use a fabric-on-fabric rubbing and rinse it well in cold water.  Repeat this two more times and then just toss it in the washer with the other laundry.

OTC hydrogen peroxide (3%) works dandy on blood and bile (cat hairball) stains.  No need to get exotic.  It may not eliminate forensic evidence, but h2o2 works fine on visible stains, can't tell where the little b*****d puked.

Someone should tell Jerry that occasionally - especially children - will get a bloody nose or a bloody lip. Which generally means blood on the shirt.

I've noticed as I've gotten older that my skin seems to have gotten thinner. I cut and I bleed much easier. What would be a simple Branch rubbing on my arm when I was a kid well now leave blood running from my elbow to my fingertips.

Probably happened to some of y'all young punks one day too.

Spots of rust or blood can be removed by mixing salt and lemon juice and leave the item in the sun for a while. Also off the shelf peroxide will remove most body fluid stains.

The best solution I found was to first use hydrogen peroxide and then spray the spot with Scrubbing Bubbles.....Cleaned many shirts that got stained at work........

I have had great luck with a commercial stain remover I get at the Super.  I just can't remember the name of it.

As J-Bar said, hydrogen peroxide works really well.

Another decent blood remover is meat tenderizer. The dry powder sprinkled liberally over the stain usually works pretty well (wet the stain first).

Years ago we could buy a commercially prepared liquid tenderizer that was applied to the product with a spray bottle and left to soak, or put in the freezer for long term storage.

I haven't seen this product for many years and I'm not sure if it's even available anymore.

I'm in my 70's now, and on blood thinners. Sometimes when I'm out on the place spraying weeds, fixing fence, or whatever, I'll get a boo boo that just won't quit, so I have to knock off, go back to the house, and lay down with a towel.

When I come in from working outside the most common comment, by far, is, "Did you know you're bleedin'?"

 

Spray 'n' Wash makes a "Stain Stick".  It's like a giant tube of chap stick.  Smear it on the blood stain and wash whenever.  It has never failed to get it out and I've never had it discolor clothing.

"CARBONA".  Went and looked at the little bottle.  Comes in a little yellow bottle.  They also made stain removers for ketchup, ice cream, dairy and others.  Works quite well.

I have had that left picture happen. Especially when pruning the azaleas. Fortunately, I have not yet had to go inside and lay down. Mostly it's when I'm done glancing it my forearms and wondering how the hell that happened.

Most of us are of an age when we can yell at a spot and it will begin to bleed.  I carry a few different size bandages and a styptic pencil with  me all the time.

I have the same problem with 'old man skin'.

 

When I bought my old house there was a patch of Spanish Bayonet Cactus about 10' in diameter in the back yard. The first time mowing the lawn, they got me good. The next day I got my trusty machete and killed all of those bastards and threw their dead, lifeless (but still dangerous) bodies back into the woods. They didn't go without a fight...I looked like someone had shot me with birdshot from about 50' away. My clothes were all bloody I had puncture wounds all over my body. They didn't come back again.

my wife used oxyclean to remove blood stains from my jeans - it was a substantial amount of blood that had sat for nearly a week as we were traveling , iit got it out , i gotta quit hurting myself , im getting too old to heal
