There's this video clip I've seen several times.

Diner. Guy 1, 2, and 3. Good guy. Waitress.

Guy 1 is messing with waitress. She is pleading with him to leave her alone. Good guy tells 1 to stop. 1 gets up and comes over to good guy, because he is Billy Badass and nobody is going to tell him what to do. Pushes his shirt aside to show his pistol, which will let good guy know that he is, in fact, Billy Badass. Good guy, without getting out of the booth, disarms him and puts him on the floor.

Guys 2 and 3 come rushing over to help. 2 has his gun out. Good guy shoots 2 in the foot. 2 drops gun and falls to floor holding foot and screaming.

Good guy points gun at 3. "Put your gun on the floor." 3 says he does not have a gun. "Put your gun on the floor." 3 draws his gun and puts it on the floor.

Good guy finally gets up out of the booth, walks over and using his foot scoots the two guns -2's and 3's - aside a little bit, then leans over and picks them up. Goes back behind the counter to the french fryer. Removes the potatoes that are in it and drops all three guns in hot grease. Tells the lady behind the counter that he is not sure if the hot grease will set off the cartridges but maybe she will want to move. And then he walks out the door.

1 is unconscious. 2 is holding his foot and screaming in pain. But what is to prevent 3 from pulling his backup and shooting good guy in the back of the head? Because good guy apparently never thought that 3 would have a second gun.

I sometimes carry two and have been known to carry more than that on occasions, but almost never since I moved here from California...where I illegally carried almost daily for nearly 40 years.

I will occasionally carry 2 guns. 1 in a jacket pocket or holster on the waist and 1 in an ankle holster.
I don’t do this very often anymore. If I am traveling to unknown areas I definitely will.

I had thought about carrying a second gun in the back of my SUV for when I don’t have my carry gun on me. If I go in someone’s house I don’t carry my gun so when I’m done I’m going to my car and putting my tool bag in the back of the vehicle. I should have a gun there. Hmmm I just may do that today!

Are you talking about making a service call? "When I go to someone's house"? Like going to fix the washing machines or something?

I know there are people that will not carry in other people's houses. Considered rude? Actually I think in a few states it's illegal.

Yes I tune and repair pianos. I just don’t think I should carry in someone else’s house.

special “service-call” statute.

Here’s how it works in practice in Ohio:

  • If you are legally allowed to carry under Ohio law, merely entering a customer’s house while armed is not automatically illegal.
  • But the homeowner can tell you that firearms are not allowed in the home.
  • If they tell you to leave, disarm, or remove the weapon and you refuse, you could potentially face criminal trespass issues.

Ohio law specifically allows private property owners to restrict firearms. Businesses often do this with signs, but a homeowner does not necessarily need a posted sign inside a private residence to tell a visitor not to carry.

With you is not very helpful.

Remember that Texas lawmaker? Having dinner at a restaurant with her parents. Guy crashed his pickup truck through the window in the restaurant, then walked around the restaurant shooting people. Including her parents.

She had her gun with her. It was out in the parking lot in the glove compartment, because it was illegal to carry a concealed weapon in Texas.

Having it with her did not help a lot. She's one of the main reasons Texas has a concealed carry permit. She fought for it, for years. If she had had a permit, she would have had her gun on her, and she could have shot that guy before he shot her parents.

I don't know who that Kyle guy is - whether he's the actor or whether he's the character - but yeah, the title said it was Twin Peaks.

I think that was the Luby's Cafeteria shooting in Texas. I don't remember a lawmaker involved in the tragedy though.

I believe she was a councilman or state rep.

The reason she didn't take her gun inside is that it made her Mother nervous.

I found this.

One survivor, Suzanna Gratia Hupp, later became nationally known for advocating concealed-carry laws. She said her handgun was in her car because Texas law at the time prevented her from carrying it inside the restaurant.

The original cafeteria eventually reopened but later closed permanently. A memorial honoring the victims stands near the site in Killeen.

Caption under the second picture. Bolded area is mine.

Suzanna Gratia Hupp, left, is seen comforting another woman at the scene of the mass shooting at the Luby’s Cafeteria on Oct. 16, 1991. As a member of the Texas Legislature, Gratia Hupp was a major proponent of concealed handgun license laws that were enacted after the shooting.

She was not in the legislature at the time, but was elected to it afterwards.

Well of course I've carried more than one gun at a time, here I am with three at once! 🤠

Oh, concealed? In AZ heat? Not very often, I'd say.

Just one on me virtually all the time.

Can be two, three, four, and sometimes more if going to a range for fun or competition (which is just a more formal form of fun). Sometimes I compete with my carry, competing with it has helped shake out all sorts of problems with my entire carry rig including holsters, belts, cover garments, and more. Lots of details come out under the stress of having to act right now!

I have a Sig 238 that is my "always" gun, rides in my front pocket. I often have something larger on my hip along with my little gun.

I always have my pocket gun in my pocket.

I have had a pocket gun in my pocket for so many years , that if its not there it feels wrong .

So when I feel the need to carry a 1911 on my hip or shoulder holster, I still have my pocket gun.

So my answer is sometimes 🤫

On me.

I have three always in my car (.380, 9mm, .38 Special) and sometimes a .45 auto, plus a 12 gauge in the trunk.

If all you have is a gun in the car it's the same as not having a gun at all.

It is illegal to carry more than one gun concealed in my state, and I don't open carry unless I'm on a range, so usually just one for me.  Accounting for more than one gun is more than I want to deal with anyway.

That sucks, what state is that may I ask?

Add Tennessee to any list. While not explicitly stated as only one handgun by number and there is no law explicitly banning multiple arms, the carry law here (with my bold) authorizes carry of "a handgun" under the permit laws. This therefore also excludes carry of long guns.

Well in Ohio it’s okay to carry more than one.

Yes. In Ohio, there is no specific state-law limit on how many concealed handguns a qualifying person may carry at one time. If you are legally allowed to carry concealed in Ohio, you can generally carry more than one handgun. Ohio’s concealed carry laws refer to carrying “a concealed handgun” but do not set a numerical maximum.

I read your law the same as I read Tennessee. It says "a" and is never in a plural form (handguns). I did look up your bill 935 which established permit-less carry there.

I consider it a caution for Tennessee, with more caution needed in Memphis compared to Knoxville.

Yes, you can legally carry more than one concealed gun in Ohio. There is no specific limit in Ohio law on the number of handguns an eligible person can carry on their person or in a vehicle.
I’ve also checked with a friend of mine whose a NRA instructor here in Ohio and says it’s okay to carry more than one.

If you need a lawyer, consider that AI. It seems pretty sure of itself.

And I made a typo above. The bill which uses the phrase (my bold) "a concealed handgun" 66 times was bill number 215; I posted the wrong number above.

I'm just suggesting you be careful in the blue areas of Ohio:

ohio-election-rewind-1604006333.gif?crop

They might have looked up the dictionary definition of "a" and take it literally. I would have the same concern in Memphis. I too am an NRA instructor so call it an opinion split.

I live in a blue section, trust me we’re fine. I know a few other instructors and gun shops around here. I have no problem even though I currently don’t carry two guns. An attorney here is part owner in a gun shop/range and he says it’s fine. In fact he carries two himself! He has since 2004.
