Buckshot Bear Posted May 4 Posted May 4 After 20 years, my Dillon XL650 feels brand new again......the last 'X' amount of months I have had some major frustrations. Today I Googled how to take apart the Case Insert Slide and found the below problem. Took my spare parts kit down off the shelf, found the replacement spring and wow am I happy! Feel like a goose though, should have done more detective work months ago 9 1 Quote
Kid Rich Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Is that a custom spring? I didn't know ya could get them in three pieces. kR 1 7 Quote
Horace Patootie, SASS #35798 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Speaking of that; my newish XL750 set up in 45 Colt drops a case onto the station 1 locator and the case insert slide pushes the case into the machine. I was having a problem with lots of cases dropping into the machine cockeyed and I would have to stand them straight up so I wouldn't damage a case and deform the station 1 locator. So I took a couple of pieces of double sided sticky mounts about 1/16" thick, cut to fit either side of the case insert slide. Tried again yesterday and it works great so far. It doesn't leave enough room for the case to tip one way or the other. Hopefully, this will be a good fix. Horace 1 Quote

They did have some issue with the main head on the 750 not sitting flush against the post, thus not level causing that problem. They were replacing many heads to the point they were on backorder (I know as spoke to Dillon at Scottsdale in person) and got a replacement as was having the same issue. It would not sit straight and then the decapping die would hit the shell on the downswing and stop or damage the shell. I would call them. 1 Quote
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Hmm. Seems to me I suggested replacing that spring in a question you asked last March. 1 Quote

Also, if you do not fully seat a primer at Station 2, the Case Insert Slide will not push the case all the way in to its intended position at Station 1 in the shellplate, also causing the sizing/decapping die to come down on the mouth of the case, denting or crushing it. 2 Quote
