EZ-CowboyHomestead Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I have two single action replicas and just bought a third cheap banger gun my son wanted to use for fanning. Before he starts to wearing it out I wanted to know if anyone has any information on a Uberti made cattleman in a 6.5 inch barrel. I know there are 4.75, 5.5, and 7.5's made but I've only seen the 6.5 available in an octagon barrel navy style revolver. I haven't received it yet to verify anything but here are the photos that were with the ad I purchased it from. Maybe it's something special? I don't know or maybe it's a 7.5 inch but it looks a bit shorter. Anybody with info would be great! Quote

H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Well, I've got a 6" Colt and yours looks longer. I've also got some 7.5s, and yours looks shorter. Silly question; got a tape measure? Odd barrel lengths are nothing new. Although this is pretty beat up, it may have been an unusual offering. I wish the Italians or the importers, did letters. 1 Quote
watab kid Posted May 4 Posted May 4 it looks to be a 5.5 to me and it looks nice , id take care of it and use it but not abuse it...just me , not mine and you make the calls here - i dont get the fanning thing 2 Quote

EZ-CowboyHomestead Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 THANKS! I should have my hands on it by the end of the week and look closer at the markings, measure it against my 5.5 and 4.75 and maybe try to reach out to Uberti. I'll post my findings. Maybe I stumbled on a gem 😅 I'm probably not that lucky. I can't complain I got a good deal $200. 1 Quote

I have read that custom barrel lengths were possible on special order. But that said, my pistol is not one of those. It's a 1st Generation that someone converted to .22 Hornet. The barrel has no markings on it, is, clearly a 22 barrel, and I have no idea where it came from. 1 Quote
Cholla Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Bear in mind, the barrel is measured from the forcing cone that sticks through the frame all the way to the front. Your example looks to be 7.5". Don't expect the timing to last long. Fanners require special work to correct timing and prevent overtravel. The fastest way to destroy a revolver is to fan. 6 3 Quote

The fastest way to destroy a revolver is a double charge of smokeless. Right now I a using a 23" extension monitor for my laptop. On this screen, when you click on the image and expand it to full size, it is almost exactly "life-size" and holding a 7 1/2" Cimarron up against it, it is a 6 1/2" barrel. 1 1 Quote

Abilene, SASS # 27489 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) EZ Cowboy, I am curious about that gun as well. I can see Uberti markings on the side of the barrel, but can't make out what it says on top. Nevada something? And what is that symbol on the left side of the frame? Uberti logo? The case coloring is in pretty good shape compared to the rest of the gun. Maybe somebody heard that vinegar was good for cleaning black powder and soaked the cylinder in vinegar. Oops! Could be a Frankengun. What is the date code on the frame? You can find info about that here: https://www.capandballrevolvers.com/italian-year-of-proof-date-codes And Uberti did make 6.5" barrels for the Stallion, but those were .22's Edited May 5 by Abilene, SASS # 27489 Quote
