Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 So after the debacle in Washington today, the President addressed the press. Still in his dining attire. I'm curious... has the lad kinda bulked up a mite, or is he perhaps wearing body armor under that Brioni tuxedo...? Now, no political comments, please ~ this is a "men's fashion" topic! 2 Quote
Dapper Dave Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I would be surprised if he doesn't have the latest and best concealable armor in his position. I would. However, I have always thought he was in solid shape for his age. What I did notice is this is the first time I've ever seen him with his hair mussed, I think he is pretty careful with that part of his look. 7 1 Quote

I believe the mussed hair came from all of the previous actions, being forced down, rushed out of the area, etc. He likely didn't have time to re-group after all that. 3 1 Quote
Trailrider #896 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I would expect he wears a vest under his outside clothes. A vest apparently saved the life of the Secret Service officer. The problem with a vest is it doesn't protect you from a head shot, as witness the first attempt on Trump, which would have succeeded had he not turned his head at that moment! Not sure what practical solution would be. 1 Quote
Smokin Gator SASS #29736 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Yes he's a large man. Not the run of the mill pencil neck politician. 1 Quote
Utah Bob #35998 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) I belive that A. He has put on weight and B, he is probably wearing a vest I do not wear body armor myself but I have been looking in vain for a Kevlar top hat. 😝 Edited April 26 by Utah Bob #35998 7 3 Quote
McCandless Posted April 26 Posted April 26 After this many attempts and threats, I'd be surprised if the security detail let him get out of bed without a vest. But yes, he's a big guy. 1 Quote
Dapper Dave Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) I have worn body armor in many different situations from old 3A raid vests for armored trucking, to concealable 3A for security, to GIANT bulky steel and Kevlar stab vests for lock down prisons, and the latest is my Level 4 rifle plate carrier for work on complex perimeter. As one coworker once commented, I look like I am wearing a bra...losing weight might be a good idea. With lightweight plates it's not really a problem to carry, just rides up over the baby elephant bump. Armor, if it's cheap...SUCKS. Lots of people buy the AR500 steel plate carrier setups because they are cheap. They wear them once for about 30 minutes and say, NOPE! Good flexible armor is usually not rifle proof, rifle proof is usually rigid and very limiting. Ah, but if you have money, lots of and lots of money, there is flexible rifle proof armor, that we of limited means cannot possess. Not because it's illegal, but because it's expensive beyond belief. Utah, there was a 3A ball cap out a while ago. OTOH, I think a bowler with that dome cover would be cool as armor... Edited April 26 by Dapper Dave 1 1 Quote
Alpo Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Dave, If you throw that like a frisbee, will the brim's edge cut the head off a statue? Are you going to get a new alias - OddDave? 1 6 Quote
