Bladesmith, SASS 113085 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I have no commercial interest in this company, just passing along a tool that was rather handy. I find wrangling the loading gate spring to be a pain when disassembling/reassembling a New Vaquero. I used this tool recently and found it to be super convenient so I thought I’d pass it along. It’s sold by RW Grip Frames. https://rwgripframes-com.3dcartstores.com/loading-gate-spring-depressor.html Quote
The Original Lumpy Gritz Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I found the one with the screw adjuster to work very well. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1006941615?srsltid=AfmBOorzTavS3rjF9iA352ynxb_0XK5L2tJuZsnhYYLQifxFXyeY4H9E&pid=145866 2 Quote
Bladesmith, SASS 113085 Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 @The Original Lumpy Gritz I have that one as well, but I found the simplicity of sliding this one on and off without have to adjust the screw to be hard to beat. 1 1 Quote
SGT. ELI 35882 GUNFIGHTER Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I had a bunch of leftover brass bar stock so I made and sold a bunch of these. I just set the screw once and then slide into place. 6 1 Quote

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Bought this from Wes Flowers 25 years ago. They have been around a long time. In case some of you weren't around when Wes was still with us he invented the Ruger revolver short stroke. 8 Quote

Still run great, though she doesn’t shoot anymore. Regards Gateway Kid Quote

Chancy Shot, SASS #67163 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 You guys are getting lazy in your old age. Just clamp the pistol upright. Use a screw driver to push down the spring. Hold it down with your chin on the screw driver and you have two hands to insert the gate. Chancy 1 4 Quote

Chancy THIS, though I don't use my chin to hold down the screwdriver but can use my right hand to push pin out with a pin pusher. Holding screwdriver with your chin may cause dire consequences. Just saying🫢😁 Quote
