Gunsmith for Stoeger coach gun

Any recommendations for a gunsmith that can chamfer/funnel the chambers on a stoeger coach gun ?

None.  It's a practice that's destined to shorten the life of your shotgun.  A crutch for folks that don't master a technique for gripping shotshells and feeding them into the chambers.  A little deburring, smoothing of the edges of the chamber and extractor should be sufficient.  But, removing the metal to the point that the place where your shell rests exists only as a faint line removes support your shotshell needs to properly headspace in the chamber.  But, if you feel the absolute need and don't mind replacing your shotgun LONG before any of the rest of it is ready... any idiot with a dremel is all that's required.

 

I hope you can deal with that sugar-coated version...  Practice will do more for your shotgun times than any amount of modification, beyond simple deburring and smoothing. All without affecting the service life of said shotgun.

For the rest of us, we will use whatever we can to help us along our shooting ways.   Champhering the chamber edges does help most of us from getting the shells caught or just easier to load the shotgun in a hurry.  Practicing the transition is the proper solution to improving your times, but at 78 I really am not going to get any faster and the champhering helps me hit the hole a little easier.  I feel I am lucky to just hit the chamber without dropping the shells.

 

Some of us have no allusion of setting any new speed records, we just like to shoot in the competition with our friends for the fun.  Anything that makes my shooting a little smoother is a plus for me.

 

Since you are not removing much metal, you can easily do the job yourself using needle files to remove the sharp edge around the chamber.  Some folks use a brake hone to smooth the chamber.  I simply use some fine Emory Cloth around my finger or a shotshell hull and work it in and out.  You don't need to remove metal, just smooth the surface and the hulls fall right out.

 

Stay away from any Dremel.  More firearms have been ruined or abused with that tool than any other I can think of.  Folks just want to remove a little, then a little more and Alas, that may have been too much.

 

Just a little goes a long way for having fun in our sport.

 

I have done way over 20 Stoeger Supremes and they all are still shooting away.  I would recommend removing a coil or two on the Barrel Release Spring and shortening the Impeller to remove the automatic safety.
