July Smith Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Does anyone know of a source for a replacement stock for a Savage 301 single shot shotgun stock? I little while back I picked up a Savage 301 as a cheap starter gun for a buckaroo. I shortened the factory stock and my son used it last year. He has now upgraded to a SxS and I'd like to put an adult sized stock back on the Savage 301. I contacted Savage directly about this but they are unwilling or unable to sell me a stock. EDIT: See update below, in short Savage gave me a new one for free. Edited April 8 by July Smith Quote
Earl Brasse, SASS #3562 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 There's a synthetic one on E-Bay $50 with free shipping or Best Offer. I have no dog in the fight, just passing it on. Savage Steven’s single shot 301 Stock 20 Gauge Synthetic eBay item number:198120239883 Quote
Griff Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Don't throw out that shortened stock. I cut down a Stoeger for my son when he was ten, got a replacement when he outgrew the short one and sent it down the road to another junior a couple of years later. 2 Quote
July Smith Posted April 8 Author Posted April 8 Just following up on this in case anyone else ends up in my situation. I tried calling Savage and was directed to their customer service email/messaging system. I sent an email to Savage requesting to buy a replacement stock. I received a response (possibly Ai) that politely explained any and all repairs needed to be done at the factory. I responded that no repairs were needed, just needed a new stock. They responded with a prepaid FedEx return label with instructions to send the shotgun back for "repairs." I sent the shotgun in and received it back 2-3 weeks later with a new stock installed free of charge. A big A+ for Savage's customer support in my experience. 2 Quote
High Spade Mikey Wilson Posted April 9 Posted April 9 I have a Stoeger 20 ga. SxS Youth Model that I had bought for my wife when she was shooting cowboy. She no longer shoots, and the shotgun was just sitting in the safe. I decided to look for a full length stock for it, but every place was out of stock, and the price was around $125. Then on Amazon I found this 1" thick slip on pad, LimbSaver Classic Slip-On Recoil Pad, 1" LOP. I bought one for $35 and it was perfect! It brought the LOP to an adult length, and I can take it off if she or the grandsons want to shoot, plus I now take it out now and then to a match. Quote
