Lawdog Dago Dom Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Not good. But expected. Sadly. Virginia Legislature Passes AR-15, Ammo Mag Sales Ban | The Reload 1 2 Quote
Still hand Bill Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Unfortunately the only way these bans will be stopped is in the courts. Politically the democrats will just push through every ban, even though they are clearly unconstitutional per Bruen. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 This was practically a foregone conclusion!! Those currently in power in the Commonwealth are dead set on subverting and circumventing the Constitution! They know that they can cause delays and create obstacles for the citizens to navigate and, for a while, hold our rights hostage!! They know that the judicial system moves very slowly and that they can “have their way” for a while! 1 Quote
John Kloehr Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Deadline for the governor to sign the 9 bills is April 13th. The special election to vote on redistricting (for federal house seats) is 8 days later. There is a possibility the redistricting effort can fail given enough public grass-roots "noise" over the gun control bills. Know anyone in Virginia? Can they help move the discussion forward? Our rights in other states may depend on Virginians saying NO to the effort there. 1 2 Quote
John Kloehr Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Governor signed at least two bills today. "Ghost gun" ban and PLCAA workaround. Will wait until Tuesday to check on the full list. 4 Quote
John Kloehr Posted Sunday at 09:50 PM Posted Sunday at 09:50 PM Also from Friday: I have not found a simple pdf of this letter. This stuff does move very slowly. Still better than what is normal when it comes to the fed and the second. 2 Quote

Spanberger had 4 options: Sign the bills Do nothing, they still go into law Send back for amendments Veto She signed 4 bills and sent the other 5 back with proposed amendments. Among those sent back is the AW/LCM ban. NRA/ILA statement: " Governor Spanberger’s last-minute amendments to these gun control bills—slipped in during the dead of night—are nothing more than a desperate ploy to prop up her radical redistricting referendum by delaying action until after Election Day. These changes don’t fix the bills; they merely attempt to rebrand blatant violations of law-abiding Virginians’ Second Amendment rights. Such cynical political maneuvers reveal not only her contempt for constitutional freedoms, but also her disregard for the hundreds of thousands of responsible gun owners across the Commonwealth. Our message to the Governor remains the same. We’ll see you in court. " 2 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM The “redistricting referendum”, (read that, “GERRYMANDERING PROPOSAL”) has raised the ire of many constituents of the Commonwealth! Add to that the very recent polling results showing that her approval rating is in the crapper and you might suspect that she’s reading the tea leaves. I DOUBT IT , but it’s possible. I’d like to see the “amendments” she’s proposing! 2 Quote
John Kloehr Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago On the edits, here are two: https://lis.blob.core.windows.net/files/1219400.PDF https://lis.blob.core.windows.net/files/1219661.PDF Spanberger is clearly doubling down. If you would rather listen than read, William Kirk explains it well: 3 Quote
John Kloehr Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) Digging a bit deeper for the processes and procedures going forward. The legislature will convene a special sessions and consider all proposed revisions. For any bill, the legislature can vote up or down on the proposed revisions. Either way, the bill then returns to the governor and the original 4 choices are again in play: Sign the bills Do nothing, they still go into law Send back for amendments Veto Edited 16 hours ago by John Kloehr clarity 2 Quote
