Los Vaqueros,  Arizona's oldest cowboy action shooting club will be celebrating their 41st anniversary with two days of fun and shooting in the "town too tough to die", Tombstone,  AZ on October 17 & 18 2026.
The weekend is split up to two separate matches so shooters can come out for one or both days. The stages will be fast and the targets will be big and close. It's the perfect warm-up for Bordertown, the AZ State Championship the following week. The weekend will also include a swap meet, so bring along gear and guns to trade or sell.
Applications and waivers are available on the Los Vaqueros website, www.losvaqueros.org.

"Dos días de Los Vaqueros"

Love the name.

I know just enough Spanish to get myself a dinner, directions, make a new friend or get myself in trouble. 😀

Last year I did great at this match, then tanked at Bordertown.

This year I'm going to attempt a reverse.

Let's see how that goes.

Two Days of the Cowboys

D'oh!   I misread Dos as Los!

Let's try Latin...

Duo Dies Cowboyorum.

I guess they didn't have and equivalent cowboys in ancient Rome, so the online translator (my High School Latin is far to rusty to use) just reversed Anglicized the word.

Reverse Anglicized...   Latinized?  Romicized?  Romanticized?

Don't know where to go from here.

Or maybe I do...

Two Days of the Cowboys does indeed translate as above.   But, Dos Dias de Los Vaqueros translated to Duo Dies Bubulcorum.

I have no idea what Bubulcorum means.

Vaqueros translates to Bublici in Latin, and Jeans in English, but the name of our thread does translate to Two Days of the Cowboys according to the translator.

Okay...  Bubulcorum translates to "of the cowherds," and Bublici translates to Oxherds.

Maybe my original idea, fixing Los to Dos, Two Days of the Rugers works better after all.

But if I make it, and October 17th is my 60th birthday, so we shall see, since it's in Tombstone, on the first day I'll be all Wyatt Earp-ey and use my Colt Buntline and Cimarron S&W American.   On the other day, I'll pin on my Arizona Ranger badge and put my Big Iron on my hip.  :)
