So I just got back from City of Hope. Had been having bad abdomen pains, my dr had a ct scan run. Those results didn’t show a mass, and most all organs showed normal, but a lot of fluid in my abdomen. There are no good reasons for fluid in your abdomen. My dr, who is a bit of an idiot, told me he thought it was some sort of cancer and sent me to experts at city of hope. Saw the specialist today. She said there is no official diagnosis yet, but they scheduled a bunch of tests to get that done. But in her opinion, she is treating it as a stage 4 stomach cancer based on what was shown in the ct scan.  Already talking about  chemo and the plug I need to have installed for that. Well I ain’t going down without a fight.  As much as I plan to fight it, if any of y’all could send kind thoughts my way I sure could use them.  Prayers, well wishes, good thoughts, a talk to the big tree out back. They are all good and will be much appreciated.  Still in kind of in the dazed and confused stage, rapidly phasing into the scared and pissed off phase.   Anyway, I ain’t going no where anytime soon if I can help it.   Thanks pards!

Insist on identifying what is the cause, wishes and prayers going out to you. I just do not like "treating as" versus "treating this specific thing."

Absolutely. The next battery of tests are aimed at exactly that. All new more specific scans, endoscopy and the other end scopy. A testing of the fluid (looking forward to this for relief from the pressure) in my abdomen..  and biopsies along the way. Then treatment as appropriate once the diagnosis is confirmed.  I was really impressed by the whole thing at City of Hope.  They really know what they are doing and they are well known for doing it. And they are only 10 minutes from my house.

Wishing you the best - just watch out for the "Medical Merry Go Round" kinda BTDT - when the second cancer specialist wanted to re do recent tests... for a syndrome with no clear remedy, I bailed.  Several years on, with routine tests, still walking around. Every case is different. Good Luck, trust your instincts on who you can trust.

John K and Rip Snorter gave you some great advice.  Cancer used to be almost a death sentence but today is different.  At this point I know more people that survived cancer than died from it and Doctors are getting better at fighting it every day.  We'll be praying for you.

A few years back I went through some really rare and strange conditions. I reached out to Mayo Clinic. The help I recieved was amazing. I would recommend at least contacting them and seeing where that leads you.

God bless.

City of Hope saved my wife's life and she was with me for seventeen more years.....but the cancer wasn't.  (She died  of double pneumonia and malpractice).

I have a lot of faith  in COH.

Prayers for you and the medical staff that work your case.

You guys know I love you.  You are my family I never met in person and I am really hoping to be able to do that at some shoot down the road.  I get past this and I am going to start traveling to shoots outside my area just to be able to shake your hands.  First drinks will be on me. thanks

If/when you get a port installed, let them know you're a shooter so they can put it on your none shooting shoulder ;). They were most cooperative with me and I was still able to shoot some matches.

It’s been way too long since we had lunch. If I remember right, it was at that German place on Ball road in Anaheim. Good food, better company.  By the way, they tore that whole strip mall down, it is a car wash now.

Lots  of good memories and we had  a great group, over 160  names.  I always wanted to get them all together at one time but the biggest mob we ever had was when Old Scout died and 54 people showed up at the original place where we stared the GLB.

The Grumpy Lunch  Bunch has shrunk now to  The Rowdy  Yates and Donna, and Cliff Hanger Lunch Bunch now.   They only go  to  one or two places and I don't think there are any set times  anymore.

Sad  loss, but I still "collect" eating places and belong the three groups that meet once a week each for breakfasts.

Thanks  for the memory.
