Red Oak Posted February 28 Posted February 28 While sidelined for health issues I decided to tinker with my cap & ball revolvers. Have a pair of 1858 Pietta with 5.5 inch barrels. Loaded 4 cylinders for each gun, different loads in each cylinder. APP for one gun, real black in the other. These are new, so first time out. I was pleasantly surprised and even impressed at the accuracy. Plan is to try a match or two with them. Really liked the APP, may save the real black for shotgun loads. But what fun!!! The wife did not like the BP smell, wind had kicked up a bit and was pushing the BP smoke right toward her. 5 Quote
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted February 28 Posted February 28 (edited) Take care my friend your missed. We had 3 posses today at Lone Star. Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Yes, cap and ball revolvers can be quite accurate. I just finished EOT. I shot real black. My wife shot APP, for the reasons you mentioned. BTW, buy a single shot rifle and you can shoot a Plainsman side match (my favorite). 1 Quote
