The ‘60 is the svelte graceful sister to the ‘51! She’s smoother and sexier with the same venomous bite!!

the only times I have shot B/P pistols for the game , I used the 1860s 5 1/2 in

got em , did a slight tune up , think I shot em for 5 maybe 6 matches

then one of the guys , talked me out of em

thinking , I would like to have another set , full length

  CB

60s feel much better in hand than 51s to me

i have one in converted 38 long colt , reload to feed it as the chamber is shorter than my 38S&W , but i have a  quantity of brass and the dies , i have a second that has a 22lr conversion cylinder , all a lot of wpork but thats part of the fun at the range ,

i have an 1858 converted to 45 colt and an 1869 converted to 45colt , all of these are fun at the range but not maytch guns by any means , ive gone with with the 1875 outllaws for my match guns

My favorite cap ‘n’ ball pistols are 1860s!! They come to point of aim naturally and POA=POI! Until recently, I kept three sets!  My main match guns, a pair of .44cal Armies with carved and checkered grips, lightened actions, Treso nipples, and full action jobs have served me for many years and let me place highly in matches all over the country. I kept a pair that were “plain Jane” , but with all the same mechanicals as my main match guns.  I used them on occasion when one or another of my main match guns was not functioning properly.

The third pair were highly customized with grips that matched my #1 pair and all of the same action work, but with nickeled grips frames and trigger guards, half dimes for front sights, French grey barrels and frames, blued cylinders, jeweled hammers, and fire blued screws! They were also shortened to 5 1/2”. I shot that pair in monthly matches and on special occasions, enough to about wear them out. I had retired them and only wore them on stage or at costume parties in a double Huckleberry rig. A good friend saw them at a match a few years ago and wanted them, so I sold them to him and he had them restored and shoots ‘em now and then!

I sold my backups a year or so ago, one to a new shooter who wanted to shoot Frontiersman but only had one gun and the other in a trade for an 1872 open top in .45 Colt.

I still have my main match guns which I have begun restoring. One needed a new cylinder and the both need new springs and I also added a new set of Slix nipples.

I’ve also acquired a new 1851 which is getting the same work done as I have had on my ‘60s and another ‘60 that’s waiting on me to decide whether I’m gonna mistreat it like I have all my others! 🤣❤️
