Alpo Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Ignore it. If I were to go to a coffee shop I would not talk to the barista. I will talk to the counter-funky. If I wanted a large coffee I would not get a grande or a vente or whatever the hell they call it. I would ask for a large. And if I wanted plain coffee with cream I would order a plain coffee. Back in the 80s I used to eat breakfast at McDonald's for about three times a week. And every time I got the same thing. The official McDonald's name was BIG BREAKFAST. But that seemed kind of stupid to me, and I always asked for scrambled eggs sausage and pancakes. Amazingly, I got what I wanted. So the coffee shop or the hamburger stand or the donut shop or whatever can come up with these really Fancy clever names for their food, but I will still order scrambled eggs and sausage and I will still order plain coffee with some cream. Well actually I wouldn't because I don't drink cream in my coffee. But you get what I mean. 3 Quote

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I don't go to s coffee shop because I refuse to pay champaign prices for coffee and won't put up with the snobby barristas in some of the places. At home I use Farmer Brothers arabica medium roast (have to order a six pound bag because they don't sell it in stores any more) made in an electric percolator with sugar. It's the cafe house coffee in a lot of restaurants all over the country. 3 Quote

I couldn't help myself and said "Krapola!! Why Bother!!" She seemed insulted. Don't know why.😇 The "Flat White" is an Australian Descriptor we imported to the US as well. And If this Aussie gall describes herself as a "Flat White" I have a suggestion that doesn't have anything to do with her coffee choices 😝 2 Quote

Once in a while we'll actually order a super-frappa-latte-whatever. Until now I never gave it any thought, but some of the young ladies behind the counter could identify as flat white. Quote

Rarely when I'm on the road I'll get a coffee with a little cream. At home I drink a lot of iced coffee. Quote

How Coffee should be ordered: Hot, black. Perfect that way, the way God intended. Sometimes a splash of Jamison in the hot, black coffee is appropriate. How did Louis L'Amour describe good coffee?
