Just saw a commercial for Grubhub and it occurred to me that I have never had a hot food delivery to my house. Anywhere I have lived. At anytime in my life. Never. Is that unusual?

Not even a pizza. Always went to pick it up or made one at home

Same here, UB. We’re in a bit of a remote area and the delivery folks won’t deliver here.

I’ve never had food delivered either. If I order pizza I go pick it up as it’s only 3 minutes away.

NO , i have lived in the middle of town for 35 years now less than a dozen blocks from the local pizza place , the only way we get hot food is if we order for pickup and go there before its ready then drive it home - i do that enough to know

That is kind of weird.

Um...

This is The Saloon...isn't weird a requirement?

We would order delivery when I didn't feel like cooking after work.  If I thought of it before I left work,  I'd call my wife and see what she wanted, call in the order, and pick it up on the way home. If I got home and didn't feel like cooking, we'd order delivery. Once I got my shoes off I was NOT putting shoes on to go pick up food.

Nope

We had a pizza delivered once when we lived in Cali.  That was such a nightmare we never did it again.

We're also too far for any sort of delivery. About 12 years ago a pizza place offered delivery. It cost about $15 including tip on top of the cost of the pizza. Took over an hour and was ice cold by the time it got here! Tried it twice with no joy and they shortly stopped delivery. We are about 12 miles from their location.

Dominos delivered when we lived in SoCal and both worked.  I was a convenience at the end of a long day and the kids wanted supper.  We used it about once a week.

Do you wonder what could be done to your food order if the delivery person is having a bad day?????😵‍💫🤔

Pretty much the same thing that could be done to the food order that you go and pick up, if the cook was having a bad day.

If you don't make it yourself then all kinds of terrible things could have happened to it.

Thinking about it would just depress you.

Dominos has heating ovens in their cars to keep the pizza from cooling.

We sometimes order delivery pizza when hosting a party.  Especially when there are multiple cars blocking in mine and too many people inside to start the oven.  We don't use grubhub, ubereats, instacart...

Never food ready to eat, but when the kids were small, we both worked, lived in the suburbs there was a grocery delivery service.  We used that several times, till they went out of business.  That was pretty handy, given the conditions.

Tastes just as good since you didn't know about the loogie in the special sauce.
