Calamity Kris Posted February 15 Posted February 15 We let our SASS membership lapse because Uno decided he didn't want to shoot Cowboy any more. Besides, the nearest club is a bit of a drive for us. We have amassed quite a few costumes between the two of us. I would consider re-upping my membership to be able to sell them in the SASS classifieds but that hasn't worked well for us in the past. Not enough interest in our sizes. So what to do? Should I consider looking at local school drama departments to see if they would like some donations? Maybe a local theater company? Any other thoughts out there. Most of the local charities are so overwhelmed with clothes, they aren't taking any donations right now. Thanks for your assistance. Quote
Alpo Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I think those are both good ideas. My daughter was in Oklahoma her senior year in high school. The costumes mainly look like what the kids thought looked cowboy (although the part that really stuck in my mind was when Ado Annie's father caught her with Ali Hakim, he did not have a double barrel shotgun like he did in the movie, but instead had a bolt action 22 rifle. Work with what you got). We have two local theater groups, and I'm sure they would be appreciative of any costumes - especially for free. 1 Quote
Coyote Kid, SASS#54714 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Adie Belle stopped shooting a couple of years ago and a closet full of cowboy clothes. We called the director of the local theatre group and asked if she wanted the clothes. She said I'll come over and look. She took everything from hats, ball gowns, shoes, boots, shirts and trousers. Plus boxes full of accessories. She asked how much and we said, it's free. Thank You for emptying the closet". She was delighted to have the outfits. 3 Quote
Tombstone Rex Posted February 16 Posted February 16 My niece and her mom are newer shooters and would love more costumes depending on the sizes. 2 Quote
Boggus Deal #64218 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I “believe” another member can post anything for you but guns. I could be wrong. Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Another thought might be to get your costumes together and bring them to a larger match to sell. The bonus would be to see some of the folks you shot with over the years. Good Luck Kris EH 1 Quote

Don't forget that the is a thread in the Classifieds called "Stuff For Free". I'm not sure that you have to be an up to date paid SASS member to give stuff away, maybe someone could answer that. Although posting pics of the free stuff is kind of a pita, I'm sure people would appreciate the items and you could stipulate that they pay shipping as that can get expensive real quick. I do suggest keeping at least one set of CAS clothes as you never know when you might want to shoot a one off match. 1 Quote
Eyesa Horg Posted February 16 Posted February 16 If you do need to ship, look into Pirate Ship. It works great and usually save above 50% on USPS & UPS. There is no cost to join and you check out the rates on the web with Google search for Pirate Ship without joining. It's worked out real well for me! EH 1 1 Quote
