Alpo Posted February 14 Posted February 14 In this video the guy says he has a sterling silver candlestick. Now me - possibly foolish - always assumed that that meant the candlestick was made of solid silver. And he takes his candlestick and starts tearing it apart because he's going to sell the silver. That's fine. But is he tears the silver off, there's all kinds of crap inside that's falling out that's not silver. Wouldn't that mean it's not sterling silver? Maybe not "silver plated", because it looks like an awful thick coating, but still not Sterling? https://m.youtube.com/shorts/QPlVTFabvR4 Oh goody goody. YouTube does not allow embedding of that video. You have to follow the link. Here's a couple of screenshots from the video. It looks like whatever the internals is, it is coated with like silver foil? 1 Quote
El Sobrante Kid Posted February 14 Posted February 14 The gunk at the bottom is to give weight to the candlestick, it is pretty standard in items considered to be "hollowware". Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. You may also hear the term "coin silver" which is 90% silver. 1 Quote

ShadowCatcher Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Back in the '60s Gun world ran an article about trying to duplicate the Lone Rangers solid silver bullets. https://www.patriciabriggs.com/articles/silver/ranger/ Things were different then . . . . SC Quote

Texas Lizard For .45 Colt, at present silver prices, silver bullets would be about $40 each. I think I'll take the misses, unless the target is a Werewolf. 1 Quote
Texas Joker Posted February 15 Posted February 15 If the loan Ranger melted down coins each shot would have been about 2/3 of a silver dollar. In 1800 buying power so about 40 bucks. Get a 16 gauge silver wire, draw a bead smaller than a hollow point cavity. Snip off the bead leaving a sprue and set it into a .45 hollow point spue down and press the bead into the bullet. The bead assists in expansion for conventional adversaries and the silver works for supernatural ones. And is cheaper than full silver 2 Quote

I soak them in holy water before use, and so far they've never failed me. Make a good all purpose round with wood, silver and holy water against almost any threat. SC Quote
