Alpo Posted February 13 Posted February 13 "...born Bernard Schwartz on June 3, 1925, at the Fifth Avenue Hospital corner of East 105th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan, the first of three boys born to Helen (née Klein) and Emanuel Schwartz. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Hungary..." I was watching a video, talking about this person. It said that when he lay dying "he did not ask for a priest". Is it racist of me to think that he shouldn't ask for a priest - that he should ask for a rabbi? The video said he didn't do that either. He asked for a bowl of vanilla ice cream. 2 Quote

Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 (edited) It is. Since you're a straight, white man, (I presume), EVERYTHING you say is racist, discriminatory, or offensive, if the listener or reader WANTS to be offended by it. (Yes Moderators, I'm at it again. Do what you must). Edited February 14 by Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 6 Quote

In this instance race has nothing to do with it since I assume everyone is white in this story. Quote

To the people who live to be offended by it, EVERYTHING a white man does is offensive. maybe not racist, but offensive. 1 Quote

watab kid Posted February 14 Posted February 14 i think anyone that considers what they say [based on is it racist? ] has been listening to too much CNN - time to take a break , we are NOT racist people , your observation is justified except you never considered whether he was a practicing jew or not , im catholic by birth - also methodist at that moment i was baptized catholic after that , but as much as i tried to be catholic later life left me disenchanted to the point ill say im not practicing catholisim at this point - im a christian , i believe and have my religious moments in non-organized moments , i have my reasons , i think he may have made peace on his own terms and didnt need assistance but wanted something that would leave a good taste in his mouth ..........just my 2 cents Quote

Theses days the term racist has evolved to include anyone who speaks a different language, has a different culture, or a different complexion. ☹️ Now, in keeping with SASS guidelines I would like to discuss either the Olympics, or 45 vs 38.😆 or whisky and cigars. Okay, I'll go first. For me it's Irish whiskey (Jameson BB or Red Breast). And my cigars are A. Fuentes or H Upman. Anyone else want to go next? Quote
