Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Today was the last work party before EOT set-up begins on February 18. I can't lift anymore but went out today to say hi to some old friends. Most of today's work was finishing up some last minute items. Everyone was toughing it out in the sunny 75 degree weather! In the photo of working on the targets the numbers tell which stage they are to go to. On the other side of the yard a crew from ACSA (Arizona Cowboy Shooter's Association) is finalizing some signs and props for their February 13 - 15 EOT warm-up match. Cowtown follows up on February 21 and 22 with Fire and Ice. As soon as Fire and Ice is over everyone rushes over to Ben Avery for the opening of EOT registration. Ben Avery was super busy today. Aside from silhouette and USPSA matches there is also a world class sporting clays match going on. Aside from normal sporting clays there is also a five stand match going on. For the real die hards and pros there is also a FITASC match going on. These are only held once or twice a year. It is basically sporting clays on steroids. This is a brief description of FITASC FITASC (Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) is a premier international clay shooting discipline that simulates hunting scenarios, often considered the "Formula One" of clay shooting. Unlike standard sporting clays, FITASC requires a "gun-down" position—the stock must touch the body below a marked line—until the target is visible. Lastly in case no one has seen one Ben Avery is one of the few sites in the U.S. with an Olympic Bunker Trap. As the Olympics gets closer this will be full of people practicing. Olympic trap shoots a smaller bird far faster than U.S. Trap. U.S. Trap has only one thrower. Olympic trap has 15. Edited February 7 by Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 6 3 Quote

Rattlesnake Slim Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) We had a few long time volunteers return for the final work party. Here, Wooden Nichols works with Lead Finger to mount a square target in place of the dreaded round pistol target. Aldo Carnage helps Legendary Lawman attach rope handles to a brand new cargo box. Swiss Kid, in his 25th year of work parties, works with Dusty McGregor to affix trim to the newly replaced expeditor boxes. The wind also blew in Cayenne Kay and Six Gun Seamus, always a welcome addition. It didn't take Six Gun Seamus long to pitch in with St Helena Slinger, Shanley Shooter, and Kid Rich. Twenty nine Cowboys and Cowgirls turned out to help and Captain Dan didn't disappoint with giant burgers for lunch. Thanks again to Darlin Darla for the additional pictures. Setup starts Wednesday the 18th at 8:00am. If you are in the area we'd love to see you. No experience is necessary, there is something for everyone to do. They were a pleasure to be around. I checked the Who is Coming List for this year and found that Sister Sarah Carnegie is returning. I am sure we will be applauding her at the Awards Ceremony. 1 Quote
