Stump Water Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 How 'bout a recipe for a super bowl of chili? 3 Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I’m headed to the grocery today to pick up the makings for vegetable-beef soup! I usually do three to five gallons and freeze most of it for use in the next few months! Carrot , ‘taters, onions, mushrooms, celery, lots of tomato sauce, spicy V8, and several pounds of cubed beef! It all gets seasoned and sautéed or browned in a cast iron skillet and then cooked together for several hours in a turkey fryer pot!! The hardest part of making it is waiting for it to cook out so’s I can have a bowl!! 4 Quote
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I used to love these things at about 8:00 in the evening watching T.V., so naturally they stopped making them. 2 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I haven't been following the NFL for some time now, but I am aware of the game called the Super Bowl and will watch it for both the game and the commercials. I used to be a Dolphins fan before the NFL decided to go the direction of the woke crowd. Always disliked the Patriots, I especially hated the Snow Plow Game. Don't like Seattle either but on the scale of dislike the Patriots rank FAR behind Seattle. My preferred bowl would be a bowl of chili, and/or the Chili Bowl Race, over the Stupor Bowl but seeing as that's not on....I'll watch the Stupor Bowl. 1 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 My neighbors are having a little SB party, snacks, drinks I’ll leave at half time because I’m not watching that and I don’t know if they are but I’m out at half time. You gotta be kidding me with Bad Bunny🙄🙄 1 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Rooting for Defense. For some odd reason my wife likes Seattle teams. Go figure. Even she doesn't really know why. 2 hours ago, Stump Water said: How 'bout a recipe for a super bowl of chili? I'm assuming that you mean Chili con Carne sin Frejoles. Take about half a dozen each of Ancho, Mulato, Guajillo, and Pasilla peppers, maybe a few Chilies de Arbol, stem and seed them, then tear them into 6 or 8 pieces. Cover with water, Bring to boil, reduce to simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes. While that's happening, cut your beef into about half inch dice. Finely chop some onion and mince some garlic. Season meat with salt and brown it in a little lard in a heavy pan over medium high heat. Add onions and garlic. Reduce heat to medium low. If pan gets too By this time the peppers should be ready. Ladle off some of the water, but reserve it. Use a blender, food processor, or stick blender to blend the peppers into a loose paste. Add some of the reserved liquid if needed. Pour into a fine mesh strainer, use back of a spoon or a rubber scraper to press the liquid through. Discard solids. Add to meat along with a little cumin and paprika. Simmer for at least half an hour. Add beef broth if needed. If too thin, make a slurry with masa harina and water and add to meat. Quote

Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The only one half time performance I remember was in 2014 when Bruno Mars performed. Incredible energy! Of course that was the last time I watched it at a friend's annual SB party before I moved out of state. I miss that party. Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 2010 half time show was The Who . That was pretty good. It’s only been the last few years that they’ve had some real crap! Quote
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted February 4 Posted February 4 As far as the Super Bowl goes my bible study leader will have it on so we will be watching it sort of. Halftime is pot luck and a short bible lesson while the show goes on. I don't watch enough football to really care about the game so I will be watching to see who plays well. I have no idea who bad bunny is, what kind of music he performs, his orientation or clothing choices don't matter to me so I just don't care whether he is the attraction or not. However I acknowledge that others are interested so to each their own and I hope they enjoy the performance. I will be enjoying multiple snacks and appetizers (we have some really good cooks in the group) so will be busy enjoying the food then watching the commercials later when I can skip the uninteresting stuff. Crazy Gun Barney, SASS #2428 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I may still watch, depends on what else is going on. But these are my two most hated football teams. If they could find a way to have them both lose, that would be the best outcome. Whether I watch football or not (may just pick a good movie), I'm thinking about grilling some steaks and using them to make a monstrous pile of carne asada nachos that will definitely not be dr approved. 2 1 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) There’s another alternative half time show by TPUSA , there’s a bunch of country artists. Here it is: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/music/2026/02/02/super-bowl-turning-point-usa-alternative-halftime-show-lineup/88414387007/# Edited February 5 by Rye Miles #13621 Quote
Sheriff Dill Posted February 5 Posted February 5 This year it appears that Turning Point/Erika Kirk is doing a half time segment on a different channel in honor of Charlie. Also looks like Kid Rock will be performing for them. We will be tuning in on hers over the SB halftime show for sure. My wife and I watch one game a year and that’s the Super Bowl. If it wasn’t for the boys watching football we wouldn’t even do that. Quote
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) People in the Carolinas are rooting for the Pats. That's where Drake Maye is from. That, and they don't have a baseball team to root for either. Unless the Braves count for most of the South except Florida? And for what it's worth, I won't be bothering to watch the Halftime Show. I have watched the Superbowl 12 times over the course of my life, and I have never bothered to watch it. That's when I go to the bathroom, call my relatives who live west of the Hudson, fix up some more food, or otherwise don't bother with whatever the show happens to be. Until they get someone good enough to be on the Opry, I'm just not interested in the typical acts they have. Edited February 5 by H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Quote
