I remember there being a thread on this but I can't find it. I have not shot my first match yet and have been gathering everything I need. The rig I really love (I bought used here) is now too big. I have lost 43 lbs. There is no way to add another notch, I remember reading about the knife in the back pocket, tried it today and nope.

I have never had a butt! I shoot ICORE and USPSA and cinch those belts super tight.

I assume suspenders?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Duke

What I and my brother do is kind of like suspenders that have a clip on each side.  Leather loop on each side of gunbelt behind holsters with a D ring.  Hook em up and you're good to go.  I think the suspender things came from Amazon.  You put them on like you would a vest.  Here's some that's close.

You really should attend a match before you try to acquire all the stuff you think is needed. Are there any clubs near you?

You never really have everything you "need" :)  There's always "something" I need.

I used to use my wallet in my back pocket until I tired of my rig pulling my pants down. 🫢I saw someone using suspenders to hold his up and went that route. I found them at Wild West Merc.

I’ve lost over 100 lbs! My belt was waaaay too long. No room for more holes. I modified the buckle end by folding it back and putting in a couple of holes for Chicago screws. It’s pretty easy to do, or most any leather worker or shoe shop can do it for you.

There's a Boot Barn in the Rockford area.  Easiest solution is to go there and look for an appropriately sized belt.  Even get a Discount with SASS ID.

I have been to Boot Barn , they don't have anything like this 😃

I had purchased a leather pair of Cowboy Suspenders years ago but had never used them.  I used the cloth, stretchy suspenders for years and thought the leather ones were just too stiff.

I had a medical condition with my legs last year which was the incentive to lose weight.  I had surgery on both legs and have lost 79Lbs to date and hope to keep going.

I had ordered a new larger cartridge belt and shotshell belt last Fall from Black Hills Leather in Laredo Texas.  None of my seven belts fit.  I keep separate complete rigs for my smokeless firearms which I shoot in the monthlies and complete rigs for Black Powder which I shoot at all Annuals and State Matches.

I would pull the belt as tight as I could and it would still slip down my hips.  I removed the leather strip which has the holes and moved it back and reattached with conchos and screws on two belts.  I have ordered two more new belts for this Summer.

I found leather loops on Ebay which I added to the leather suspenders.  The suspenders have four ends where I attached the loops with snaps and d-rings.

I also found and ordered two leather suspender harness which were made to hold up utility belts with more of the leather loops.  I will give both a try in the Spring.  As I hope to continue down the weight scale.

Wow!  Nice rig.  If that's what you wear go to the maker and have a new belt made.  Any attempt to alter the current one will not look good.

Possibly this could work...wearing your standard belt thru your pants loops, when you put on your gun belt these attach the gun belt to your pants belt by snapping around both belts.

Great looking rig and revolvers you have there!  Not sure that belt could be shortened. Suspenders in the back might help.

Look at some of your USPSA vendors, back in the day they sold keepers which would wrap around your pant belt and then velocro or snap around your gun belt. Back even further in time and we had leather keepers that go around your pant belt then snap over your duty belt, usually made of leateher to match your duty belt.   IIRC Amazon may still have these.  And yes. I understand, between weight loss and no butt it becomes a problem.

Those duty gun belt keepers are about as easy to make as anything in leatherwork.  All you need for a few bucks from Tandy Leather.  BTW, they are useful even if you are slim.

Howdy, DukeSoprano.

I got my gun belt suspenders online from the Suspender Store.

They are leather loop suspenders that fit around the gun belt and hold it up.

Go to the Suspender Store website and look under "western suspenders" and look for the "loop suspenders."

These suspenders held an oversized Mernickle gun belt in place for a skinny youngster.  It worked for me.

They are leather and are adjusted by a buckle and holes in the leather.

The price has gone up considerably since I last bought them.

All the best,

Slow Mo Dern

Luckily, I have a Tandy leather about 10 minutes from me.

Unlike yourself... I recently had a local leathersmith move my billet (part with the holes in it), further out on the belt.  It can be easily moved further back on the belt, since it's a "ranger style" buckle set on separate billets system.  I'd previously had mine shortened by a saddle repair shop.  I suspect there's a saddle or harness repairman somewhere near that northern IL or southern WI area.

Duke, I'm curious why this didn't work?  I switched to a long comb sticking out of my back pocket so I could put my boot knife back in my boot.  Just wear your belt so it hooks over the end of whatever sticks out of your pocket.  If I'm wearing pants with no back pocket, I use a bent spoon hook in the back center of the pants and a leather cord around the belt hooks to it.    I know there are gun belt suspenders out there but I don't like the look.
