You hear about people getting confused. And, if you like me, you laugh at the stupidity of somebody getting these two entirely different countries confused.

When I first saw this article this morning I thought I would post it in the Australian humor thread. A cow in Oz using tools. That's funny, right?

Then I read again. Austria. Oops.

Somehow, I just can't picture James Garner saying "Well basically, I was on my way to Austria" in Support Your Local Sheriff.:P

The fact that there is a counter at an airport in Austria for this purpose is testament to how dumb some people are.<_<

I heard about a man some years back who found himself on the way to Aukland when his destination was Oakland.  Said to be true...and he was very late for his appointment in California.  Also said he enjoyed New Zealand, too.

Aw heck.  Forty beat me too it.  After being in the air over three hours, the guy enquired of the crew "When do we get to Oakland?"  Found himself on the way to New Zealand.  Way too funny you betcha

Had to have had his head up his butt if he didn't see that something was wrong when they checked his passport before departure.

IN OTHER WORDS, I DON'T BELIEVE THE STORY.

And I always wondered why the crew didn't check the ticket before he got to the loading gate.

I'm pretty sure it does not cost as much to fly to California as it does to fly to New Zealand.

That should have been a clue.

another clue would be having to apply for a visa. (Might not have been required, things like that change)

i know there are people that know nothing of geography - mostly young that have been poorly educated - see it on the TV regularly , they also have no idea what the question was or what the topic is really , no idea what  they protest about just wanting to be a part of the whole in their little circle of life , some so insignificant they need to scream and shout to be recognized , its sad , we have dumbed down our society to this point , almost set it back to the 17-1800s when education and modern conviences were unheard of in what we should be seeing today ,

Absolutely!!!  Another point to make you question it, the price difference between Aukland and Oakland has to be astronomical.........  He should have seen that when he was making the reservations.

Since it's not political, I would trust it.

From Snopes:

"There is no evidence or documentation in the Snopes Archives about someone flying to Auckland, New Zealand thinking they were going to Oakland, California. "
