Chantry Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Sure we can, you just need a destructive device permit and LOTS and LOTS of money for 99% of breech loaders* For a muzzle loader you just LOTS of money, no permit *I've seen ONE breech loader, of British origin that was made before 1898, that was NOT subject to the destructive device permit. 1 1 Quote
Trailrider #896 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 My father, who held an Army reserve commission as an artilleryman before WWII, trained on French 75's. When WWII broke out, having been reassigned to the 42nd Infantry "Rainbow" Division around 1943, he was TDY to Ft. Sill to learn the 105 so he could act as a forward observer! When he reported to the division at Camp Gruber, OK, and the C.G found out he was an attorney, the general pulled him up to Hqtrs to try courts-martial cases in assistance to the division JAG. As a result, instead of deploying with the 232nd IR with Task Force Linden (the division ACG), he went overseas when the division headquarters, artillery and the rest of the division deployed in February 1945. Given that the life-exspectancy of a forward observer was about fifteen minutes, this might have saved his life??? Dad went on after the war to attend JAG school, and maintained his reserve status until retiring as an LTC in 1958. 5 1 Quote
