I w_s typing _w_y when _ll of  sudden, I st_rted to see _ll these red underlined words.  How could th_t be?  My spelling isn't th_t b_d.  Well, it turns out, I've lost my "_" (_s well _s  couple of other keys, no swe_ring for me).    Try se_rching _m__on for  wired M_c b_cklit keybo_rd when you c_n't spell it.  Hopefully, I will receive it tomorrow.  Until then, I will rem_in silent.

That happened to me a while ago and it turns out it was my wireless keyboard. They weren’t in red though they just didn’t work. I replaced the batteries but that wasn’t it. It’s about 12 yrs old. It’s an IMac. I bought a wired one for $15.00 and Wallah! Everything is back!

It was weird certain letters didn’t work and as the days went on more and more went out until it didn’t work at all.

My original wired started like dozen tapping! Replaced a $20 wireless and all has been good for about 3 or so years. Just had the first set of batteries fail. Went wireless mouse at the same time.

Yep.  Had the same problem with my iMAC as Rye.  Went to fire it up one day and the Keyboard was Kaput.  After couple of minutes of panic, I remember to change out the Batteries in the keyboard and just for good measure, the wireless Mouse too.  All is Well again.

(I'm typing this from work)

My keyboard is wired.  I don't like using wireless, for security reasons.

It's royal PITA when that happens to a laptop.

I have, in rare occasions, had the Genius Bar able to fix the laptop.  Most of the time, it's bye bye laptop, unless you have a way to plug a keyboard into it.

Many keyboards allow you to pop off the key and blow out the stem well with compressed air.

Sometimes it is just a spec of snot (technical term) causing the problem.

In this case, I popped the offending key off and it disintegrated in my hand.  The two little plastic bits that gave the key it's "spring" fell apart.  Additionally, other keys in that "region" lost the desire to work as well.  I couldn't use the "Z", "Q" or exclamation point.  The sad part, it was 6 months old.  I'm not a blogger or gamer so I'm not hard on them.  I rarely eat or drink in my office so that's not an issue either.

I have a lower end gamer keyboard now.  I like the feel but I need to figure out how to change the backlight.  The rainbow is driving me nuts.

I prefer a wired keyboard.  While the occurrences of having your typing scanned are rare, they do happen.  I prefer to be safe than sorry.  (Too many years working as a government contractor.)

Our local Goodwill is an excellent source for used keyboards.
Name brands, also.
I picked up a near new Dell USB for my grandson's new computer, for $5.

Keep your eyes open at garage sales for old IBM AT keyboards with the 12 function keys.
These are the "M" series clackity clack types and built like a tank.
The PS/2 connector is easily and readily adaptable to USB.

I am typing this on one of those keyboards.

I had two until my cat knocked my coffee into the other one...
