You are expecting a delivery, and you hear car door shutting, and trunk lids shutting, and large trucks pulling up in front of your house.

So you go look and there's nothing there.

About 2 weeks ago I was expecting an order and I heard of kathunk outside, went and looked and it was the door shutting of the delivery driver. So that was wonderful.

Today I'm supposed to receive something from FedEx. "Estimated between 9:50 and 1:50". 1:50 was one minute ago. For the past 5 hours I have heard trucks driving up and down the street and I've heard car doors shutting out front and I must have gone to the door a dozen times. Ain't there.

Around here that's usually Fire/Rescue responding to a medical emergency.

Most often between 0230 and 0430.

It's amazing how many panels they open and slam shut.

It arrived. Almost exactly 1 hour later then the latest estimated time. And the driver apparently cannot read, because I have a platform on the right side of my door with a sign on it that says PACKAGES, and he put it on the left side of the door. He also put it upside down.

I am more and more impressed with FedEx drivers.

Used to happen to me a lot. Then I'd get an emule saying that my package had been delivered. They kept delivering it to my neighbor. My mailbox is kind of between the two houses on the street, so I guess that they thought it was theirs. Of course, my house is the last one on the street, and there's NO mailbox AFTER mine, AND my address is on my house in 6" numbers, but they kept screwing it up. (My neighbor was great about it, even brought a couple over to me). So, I got a sign to but on the mailbox with my house number and an arrow pointing to my house. No problem since.

I really like the guys that set it against the door that open outward so that I have to push the package out of the way to open the door.

Or go out the back and walk around your house to get the package and realize you didn't unlock the front door. Back around the house...!:o

I had that with Amazon a lot. I would order heavy packages, and they would put them in front of the storm door. And I could not push the door open. I would have to go out the back door and walk around the house. I complained to Amazon three or four times but nothing happened until I finally told them that if there was a way to attach photos I would show them what he's doing. And the girl on chat gave me a link. So I showed a picture of where the box was and then I showed another picture with me holding the storm door open the entire 3 inches that it would move. I guess that finally got their attention because they have not put it in front of the door since then.

This brilliant guy today, though. The delivery picture he took. See, it is obviously on the left side of my door.

Now let's back out a little bit and take a picture of my door.

See the little platform I built, with the sign that clearly says PACKAGES. Aside from making sure that it's not in front of the door, sitting on that 4x4 frame keeps it up out of water puddles.

Ah well.

The drivers have to find some way to amuse themselves during the day.

Try that with a delivery of 49 bottles of drinking water! A couple of phone calls, plus leaving signs, "Put bottles here!" finally solved that problem...so far!

Every now and then I get the message a package has been delivered. I don't see it in the porch. Check for a picture, awe, he put behind the snow bank next to the pole at the street about a thousand feet from the house!

Ah well.

Did you get a building permit and inspection for your Package platform? Package delivery is not allowed to put anything on it until inspected. 😉

Oh quit whining.  I'm just tickled to get my packages at all.  Why, just yesterday, I received a highly anticipated delivery, and it was delivered an entire day EARLY.  Should I have had her pick it back up and hold it until today??  Nah.

I've had 'em do that.

6 or 8 years back I was visiting in Atlanta. Package was due to arrive on Wednesday. Packing showed it came to Atlanta Sunday night, so I was happy. It will get here Monday - 2 days early.

It was not delivered moneyMONDAY. Tracking showed it was sent to Athens, where it stayed all day Tuesday and then late Tuesday night it was shipped back to Atlanta, where it was delivered Wednesday. The day they said it would get there.

Week or so back I ordered something from Midway. I got a notice this morning that it will be delivered today. I don't know what they're going to deliver because the last package I ordered from Midway came 4 days ago. But they are adamant that I am getting a package from Midway today.

We shall see.

I once ordered 10 bags of rubber mulch (ground auto tires) delivered Tom my local Home Improvement Store. The driver neatly piled them on my front porch so that I would have had to climb over them to exit that way. He/she had to carry each bag 10 feet up the walkway from the driveway. The 2 car wide garage door was less than 5 feet from the tire tracks left by the delivery truck.
After I moved the bags I realized I should have taken a photo and sent it to the store manager.

At least I’m retired and had all the time in the world to Strategical Transfer Equipment (move the bags) to an Alternate Location.

We have been waiting anxiously for the second replacement controller for our dead water heater.

It is out for delivery today Saturday instead of next Tuesday.

We are lucky to have the delivery the day it is originally scheduled for. I wonder if they delay delivery until they have enough packages to pay the cost of sending the truck out. I wonder if it will improve when we move to.town.

we have gotten so many deliveries lately ebvev the guard dog has quit going to the door , my garage is full of boxes to burn and its below zero so im not lighting the fire , but yes , i live in a quiuiet neighborhood that seldom has night noises of consequence , there are three LEO houses in the area and two are a short distance from my door , im not real worried here - im armed - well enough , but i have on occasion heard the noises you mention and even if the dog doesnt check i do

I swear that I here car doors up at the cabin while I'm out back hunting. More than once I have walked back to see who was there. Nobody. Now I make sure it is locked tight and the chain across the drive.

I got a message from Amazon that says they will no longer deliver packages to the back door. 😡

I wonder if the FedEx driver that made the delivery this morning is the same one that made the delivery Friday?

He also ignored the nationalNICE LITTLE platform that says "put packages here", and put it on the other side of the door.

You could put a small sign on the left side down low with an BIG Arrow pointing to your platform on the right side.

I thought about that Friday. I figured there was no sense in doing that for just one idiot.

They don't have just ONE idiot. In my ,case, it was both Fed EX and Amazon delivering mine next door. UPS was fine about it, as was the pizza places I order from. But since the sign, no problem. Just move your sign to about eye level and see how that works.

I suppose I could paint

LEAVE PACKAGES HERE

With a big arrow underneath pointing down to the ground, on the front wall of my house. Seems a little like overkill though.

i can hear my neighbors doors closing and some of ther vehicals coming and going even though there is quite a distance between our homes - noise travels , i also hear vehicles across the river at the lift station site - city trucks mostly , sometimes fishermen that wander in , the dog does react to most of them but not all , and ...my neighbors get lots of deliveries too
