Beartrap SASS#57175 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I send all my guns out for new short stroke jobs and race ready tune ups, put some new kironite Eagle grips on them, order all new Starline brass to load, run all my freshly loaded sg shells through through a high dollar crimp tool, grease the wheels on my gun cart, put "slick 'em" in my brand new Mernickle competition holsters, rough up the soles of my boots for better traction, waterproof the boots and the rain slicker and clean my hat. Then I get the truck serviced, fill the propane tanks on the trailer, check the bearings, tires and brakes on both and get them detailed. While doing all that I dry fire and practice transitions for two hours each nite for the month before the match. I do cardio exercises and eat well for at least a month prior to it also. The last thing I do before leaving is to mentally visualize watching all those other folks walking up to get their awards while I sit there clapping furiously.

Eyesa Horg Posted January 13 Posted January 13 If I ever get to go, it won't be any different than any other match! Load my crap in the truck or camper and head out. For EOT I'd probably clean the guns first!! But there'd be no difference in my ammo. No sense in fixing something that's not broke! 😋

Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Am shooting local CAS matches even in very cold weather. This is my practice. Gun prep: cleaning all rifles and tightening screws on all firearms. Ammo: Inventoried black powder ammo left over from the Western Regional. A few boxes are 12-guage are available. Need enough ammo for Fire & Ice, warmup stages, side matches and the main matches. Currently loading .32 H&R mag ammo for my wife. Side marches: practicing for a side match I hope to do well in. Travel trailer prep: need to buy more propane. Since I am on a low salt diet, am batch cooking and freezing meals to stock the freezer. Restaurant meals are unhealthy. Need to wash the tow vehicle before leaving for Ben Avery.
Doc McCoy, SASS #8381 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 For my prep, I’m driving to Arizona. 12 days on the road and I’m half way across Texas.
Boggus Deal #64218 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Same thing I’ve done for the last several years. Nothing.
Yellowstone Vic SASS#32968 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I watch every YouTube video of Shooting Bull so I know what I'm up against. Match ammo loaded several months ago and taken to winter place in AZ. Guns will be checked / prepped as before any "important" match. Practice "load and shuck" every time I go past my skb setting on the practice table in the basement. Will shoot as much as possible in February after getting to AZ (working remotely). Sleep and keep myself healthy. Keep the attitude that I can beat cowboys 20-30 years younger than me (cuz there ain't no Senior Duelist). Vic
Waimea Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Breaking all my guns and then fixing them so they learn their lessons. No bad guns at EOT.
