Turkey Creek Red, SASS # 22854 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hello the camp, Other than annual and above matches, does your club write stories to go along with the shooting scenarios? If you do, do you feel that it enhances the cowboy experience? Inquiring minds want to know.
Eyesa Horg Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Not always at monthlies, but most of the time. And yes I think it enhances the experience. Part of the entertainment factor!
Tn Tombstone Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Yes, our stage writer goes the extra mile with a short, 4 or 5 line story that normally. ends with…. thats what started the gun fight. They add a lot to the "entertainment factor” enough so that I have borrowed some of them for Black Gold and KY State in the past.
Frontier Lone Rider Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Yes, and the writer includes some of the names of our shooting club pards in the action for entertainment. It brings the stage closer to home.

It brings the stage closer to home. Ours too! One of my favorites is (insert whatever names you like), Aunt Sally asked Uncle Joe what he thought of the supper she fixed for him? He said, it ain't near as bad as what you fixed for me last night! And "That's How The Fight Started"
Eyesa Horg Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Sometimes the stories are written but not read to save time. Which has been fine as it was much more of story and really needs to be read from stage one thru to appreciate. These were at a larger match and fun to read back at camp.
I. M. Crossdraw, SASS# 8321 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Monthly match=NO. Major matches = OK, it's entertaining but keep if real short due to time constraint on each stage.🤠
Redleg Reilly, SASS #46372 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Yes for all our monthly matches. Much more fun!
High Spade Mikey Wilson Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Yes, every club I shoot at has a breif story that goes with each stage instruction. I met pards who like them, and I have met pards who hate them. I personally don't care either way, but realize it's part of CAS tradition.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I go to 5 different clubs, some do some don’t but for the annuals yes always a story.
Cypress Sun Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I sort of liked SHORT stories during a monthly. At large matches, I like the stories also but preferred to read them in the shooter's booklet at my leisure rather than have them read aloud before each stage. On a different note, I was good to see you and Kate again Red...real good.
Santa Fe River Stan,36999L Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Delta Glen always had a story for each stage at Roughshod Raiders......I liked most of them...LOL In general I like a short story for the stage regardless of the level of match. Stan
