Rye Miles #13621 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Why does it get windy. If you ever wondered here’s a brief explanation. Here’s the simple chain of events: The Sun heats Earth unevenly Land, water, and air warm up at different rates. Warm air rises, cool air sinks Warm air is lighter, so it rises and creates low pressure. Cooler, denser air sinks and creates high pressure. Air moves from high pressure to low pressure That movement of air is what we feel as wind. What makes it windy instead of just a breeze: Bigger pressure differences = stronger winds Storm systems (like cold fronts, hurricanes) create sharp pressure changes Geography (mountains, coastlines, open plains) can speed up or redirect wind Earth’s rotation bends wind paths (the Coriolis effect)
Smokin Gator SASS #29736 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Everyone knows that when you see trees swaying and their leaves moving around, that's what creates the wind! It's science.
