Alpo Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 It don't really matter, but I'm curious. The normal day for trash pickup is Friday. Christmas is Thursday. Do you believe that they will pick up the garbage Friday? They didn't do it last month - the day after Thanksgiving. Now I certainly can understand if they did not pick up the trash next year, because next year Christmas should be on Friday. They're not gonna work Christmas. And if this was Canada or Australia or England, or maybe even India, it would be boxing day and they wouldn't work. But we don't celebrate boxing day. So where y'all live - if the garbage was supposed to be picked up tomorrow, do you believe they would pick up the garbage tomorrow? Quote
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Saturday for trash and possibly recycling. Their normal day is Friday but Friday they do their Thursday pickups. It varies because the trash guys are City the recycle guys are contract. 1 Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Thursday is trash day here but they’re on a one day delay so my trash is out for tomorrow (Friday) 1 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Here it gets pushed one day. Related: the county dump is only closed about 5 days a year, one of them being Easter Sunday. More often than not I don't take notice of it because Pascha (Orthodox Easter) usually isn't the same day. About 30 years ago, on what happened to be Easter Sunday, but was the 3rd Sunday of Lent, some of us went after church to help someone get rid of things. I was going to haul it to the dump in my pickup. Loaded up, tarped and tied, headed down to the county dump. Gate was locked Checked the time. Nope, about an hour before closing. My wife pointed to the sign listing the days it was closed. "Easter Sunday." We looked at each other, "Is that today?" Yep. Quote
Cypress Sun Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 (edited) I'm in the county and the county doesn't have garbage pickup so it's all private companies. The company I use is a locally owned company actual owner lives two blocks away from me but he has regular style trucks and has customers all over the county. My normal pick up days are Tuesday and Thursday. He sends out letters every year detailing when pickup days are if your pickup day falls on a holiday. This year he is taking the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day of and service will resume on the next scheduled day. He provides a 95 gallon container on wheels so it isn't really a problem. His company is the best one we've had by far and is also the least expensive of the 8 or so other companies that service our area. We had a large, statewide (maybe nationwide) company that consistently missed pickups and wouldn't come back for it even if you called just after they drove by your can. The final straw with that company came after they missed a pickup for the 8th or 9th time. I put the two filled, stinking cans in my truck, drove to their local office (about 8 miles away), dragged my cans into their office area and dumped them on the carpet. I told them that if they would not come to me, I'd go to them and then cancelled my service right then and there. They actually had the audacity to send me a bill to cancel my service. I called them and told them to get bent, never heard from them again. Edited December 26, 2025 by Cypress Sun 1 Quote
John Kloehr Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Thursday is my garbage day. The folks who pick up mine will be coming by on Saturday. Those with Friday pickup are not affected. 1 Quote

Eyesa Horg Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Mine comes on Monday, if that's a holiday, he's here on Tuesday. He's actually a dollar a bag cheaper than if I load it up and take to the recycle center! The bears ravaged it once and he picked 99.9% of it up at 4:00 AM. Great guy! 1 Quote

Each picks up on different days and some none has an "area" to serve, so trash cans are always somewhere on every street in the whole community. Mine will be here today, some will come back tomorrow. Each company has its own schedule. Quote

It was two 33 gallon regular cans. Although the garbage in the cans was in bags, they had sat out in the Florida sun during the summer...chicken bones, ect...it STUNK. 2 Quote

I take 3 bags out to the road about once a month! I've now got two since just before Thanksgiving to out in a few weeks! Edited December 26, 2025 by Eyesa Horg Quote
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 We get picked up once a week, one bin an trash and one bin recycle. Our's is on Friday unless there is a holiday sometime during the week, then it is delayed one day to Saturday. Quote
Rip Snorter Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 I could pay for a service, but the dump is just a few miles away. I go twice a week even if it is just a small bag. No garbage outdoors means less critters if you live in the country. Works! Quote

Alpo Posted December 26, 2025 Author Posted December 26, 2025 Truck used to come about 6:00 in the morning. Used to. Last couple of months has been around noon. About 9:30 I looked out the window and I saw four cans sitting at the street. So I said what the heck and I took my can out. It's now almost 1:00 and it has not been dumped. It is going to sit out there until it gets dumped, whether tonight or tomorrow or Tuesday when the next trash pickup day is. If the city gets annoyed, too damn bad. They need to pick up the trash on trash day. That's what I pay for. Quote
watab kid Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 ours got picked up today - in general they get it on thursday but if there is a holiday in the week it moves to friday , Quote
