DeaconKC Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 How about we quit bashing the states or countries that some of us live in for a bit? Yes, it enrages me too the stuff some of our whacko politicians stir up, but those members stranded in those states or countries don't need to be dragged through even more grief than they are already enduring. And DON'T give the line of "Why don't you move?" That's awfully arrogant. My Missus and I were stuck in Illinois for many years as we were the caregivers for our parents until they passed, so we couldn't leave until then. Or maybe our Pards on here are being cared for and that's where their caregivers have to live because of jobs or the rest of their families. So please, on this Christmas Day, try SUPPORTING our friends stuck in those states. 10 13 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 We’re bashing the politics especially the strict gun laws, we’re not bashing the people unless of course the ones that vote for these numbskulls that pass those laws. I feel bad for our shooting pards that live in those states and are stuck. I know how that can be. I have cousins in California that would love to get out but it’s not easy for them. I also have some friends in Illinois. I’m glad I’m in the pro gun state of Ohio but that could change within a couple elections, ya never know! 6 Quote

Not trying to change it to politics, but you HAVE to vote in EVERY voting opportunity....every one regardless of how trivial it may seem. It's one of the few hobbies I have left...and it's really inexpensive. I seldom bash anyone as an individual, although every now and again someone will hit my switch and I'll let go. If I get to that point I won't don't pull any punches, so I keep a tight rein on it. I violent temper needs a hard fist to keep it under control.....and no one wants to see me lose it. 2 Quote

Sort of like blaming the defenders at the Alamo for losing. Even if every gun owner voted single issue, we would be out voted. Especially with Rank Choice Voting in the primaries. Sometimes it's like a choice between Stalin and Krushchev. Worst and worster. 4 Quote

I'm not blaming anyone or any group of people. These people don't just start running for governor out of nowhere. They start with city councils, county commissioner, mayor, dog catcher, sheriff, judges, school boards, etc. In other words, it starts locally much of the time. When's the last time anyone actually did a little research on the prospective judge of the circuit court that wants to retain their job, the prospective school board member, the prospective city council member or even sheriff. Some state laws start with homegrown amendments to the state constitution that, on the surface, seem like good ideas...until you do research and discover the sponsors and hidden reasoning behind the sponsor support. Many times, the wording of the proposed amendment or bill is misleading and/or seemingly innocuous when it is far from that. Research everyone and everything that is on the ballot, that's all I'm saying. I'll stop here, lest it start a political slugfest. 2 Quote

Right....someone out of Three Rivers or Galt will get the same same state wide recognition as someone from San Jose, or Oakland. As I recall Pelosi started as a Marin County supervisor. She had more political power there than an assemblyman from one of the Central Valley or Eastern Sierra districts. 2 Quote

Several years ago, I was on a tour of the county jail with a local organization. Our tour guide was a Deputy Sheriff who also happened to be running for County Sheriff. At the end of the tour, he asked for any questions. I asked him, "What is your position on the Second Amendment?". He didn't hesitate for a second and answered, "Should have been the first." He got my vote and was not running on my affiliated party's ticket. I am a one issue voter. Edited December 26, 2025 by Sixgun Seamus 6 1 Quote

Do you think I'm referring to California? I'm not. Other than this lone post, I have not said anything about nor implied ANYTHING about CA. The last I looked there are 50 States that vote on everything from dog catcher to the POTUS. If you want to give up, go ahead...no skin off my butt...but quit acting like someone is personally insulting you any time you perceive (incorrectly in this case) that someone mentions CA. I'm out of this thread. 1 Quote
