John Kloehr Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 "I have a giving program. I do not respond to requests by eMail, text, phone call, postal mail, or even in person. I can not determine if any of these other channels present a legitimate request or are fraudulent. I can not determine if you, asking me for help, are legitimate, fraudulent, or simply duped." Repeat as required, but persistence on the part of the asker is evidence of fraud. Those who are legitimate do take "no" for an answer. Girl Scout cookie sales at the grocery store do get a box purchased for the troops, that is the most I will take a chance on. 2 Quote
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 With friends and family in far-flung areas of the world, my e-mail address receives a lot of questionable stuff. Fortunately, I have a robust screening software package. The phone calls are something else: everything from the Grandfather scam, Bank Alerts, the Your Credit Card etc. etc. I find those scammers like to call real early in the AM, waking you up with their fishing. When I tell them I'll drop into the bank or call them back using the number on back of my credit card, I sometimes get "*&^$%$ Canadian!" and the phone cuts off. If my call display shows Blocked number or doesn't show a name, just a number, I let it go to voice mail. There has never been a message left.. Quote
