Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 There is nothing worse than a ten dollar gift certificate to a gun shop.
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Yep. That'll barely get you in the door.

The idea is that you'll go there just to see what the $10 will get you, even though you KNOW that the answer is NOTHING. Once you're in, you look for SOMETHING so the trip isn't wasted.
Cypress Sun Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 You can always get that 50 round box of .22lr ammo that you always wanted!
Chickasaw Bill SASS #70001 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 as long as it is the cheap stuff

No I would go in knowing I’d get $10.00 off whatever I buy! If anyone has a $10.00 gift card you don’t want please send it to me!
El Sobrante Kid Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 Use to be that people would bend over to pick up a penny... not any more. But to go off on getting a free $10 gift card (handed to you), seems like a First World Problem on steroids. Hopefully such a person could find some happiness with gifts that are more "thoughtful" than they are "high priced". Merry Christmas!
Rip Snorter Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 He!!, I will pick up a penny or even a clean nut or bolt any time.
watab kid Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 never look a gift horse in the mouth - my grandfather would say and he owned horses back before there were cars , just say thankyou and move on

I'll always pick up any coin on the ground. Used to find change, and paper money, all the time doing parking lot lighting maintenance. Found a $50 bill once blowing across a parking lot directly to me once. Found a dime today directly in front of my gal's passenger car door today. I've used or given away gift certificates to various firearm related businesses over the years. Gave one away that was worth $50 to some SASS related gear once as I wasn't going to use it. Like Watab, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth and always graciously accept the gift regardless of whether or not I will use it.

Like Watab, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth and always graciously accept the gift regardless of whether or not I will use it. yup , its not how much but the thought we need to accept , sometimes [i remember the times in my life] when a $10 gift card would have been a lot in my budget , might have meant missing meals and or hoping the gas tank didnt run dry , thankfully that was a brief time in my life but if at that time i gave you a $10 gift card it would have meant i really liked you and i was doing without somewhere , ive been led to a another thought here - how many say :thank you" for the things that come their way ? just wondering , we have struggled with this a little in our family , my wife is extremely generous with both our children and our grandchildren , she grew up as i did with not much , we have tried to see that ours live better than we did , its what both of our parents did for us - they grew up in the depression , they had nothing and lived in conditions that we dont allow criminals or illegals to live in these days - her uncles lived in a barn - the girls lived in the house , my father had no running water or indoor toilet till the 40s , not trying to compare here i know others had just as bad or worse , my wife grew up in navy housing with four siblings they ate outdated MREs a lot , i grew up thinking everything was goulash - basicly a bit of ground beef , some macaroni and whatever else was in the fridge at the time - never the same but always similar bottom line is that my wife has become a stickler on "THANK YOUS" she thinks its only right - no matter how big or small you thank the person that thought enough of you to give you something , oive not found a reason to argue with her yet

My sweetie and I both go out of our way to say "Thank You" to others who have given us something or done something for us, no matter how big or small the effort or gesture. We both worked at a large research lab that had many PhD's, lots of folks with advanced degrees, even a smattering of Nobel Prize winners. It was not uncommon for a PhD or someone in management to act as if they were the center of the world, and completely ignore the contributions of the people around them, let alone thank them. After noticing this behavior for a while, and being quite disgusted by it, we both decided that it was important to recognize and acknowledge the efforts of others, by thanking them. We did this both up and down the ladder of our coworkers. It felt good, it was obviously appreciated, and it became a lifelong habit, both inside and outside of work.
Dirty Dog Doug Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 Well Dear I had to spend $1000 on new rifle so the $10 gift card did not go to waste it was on SALE how could I not afford to save $500 ?????

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 $10.00? Thats a TRAP to get you to go to the store and graze around and before you know it the $10.00 has sucked you into buying a few hundred dollars worth of stuff. Enjoy it...and show off your new gear to whoever gave the gift in the first place.
Blackwater 53393 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 I figure it’s ten bucks I didn’t already have and thank whoever gave/sent it!! You’d find it most inadequate in a hotrod shop!! These days, $10.00 won’t get a tire inflated!! 🤪
Widder, SASS #59054 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Don't feel slighted by a 10 spot. Most BIG gun stores have a drink machine and a candy machine. Stay refreshed while shopping. On the other hand, maybe 9 other friends will also give you a 10 spot. They add up. P.S. - sounds like your best friends with TN Williams and that gift is from him. ..........Widder
Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 I go to the local mall to walk and I’m always looking where I’m going, yesterday I found a quarter! I’ve found dimes and nickels and pennys and of course I pick them up! Why not?
Three Foot Johnson Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 The $25 rewards cards from my Scheels credit card are just as bad. Then if I ever finally accumulate enough to make a purchase worthwhile, in the back of my head I'm thinking, "This $200 "free" thing actually cost me $20,000".
