I remember paying less than a quarter a gallon when there were gas wars.  Early to mid '60's.

Even early 70s, I remember gas wars in Vernon, Ct. The least I ever paid was 19¢. Could fill my Karmin Ghia for under $2!!

Average normal price was 32.9

In the 60’s gas and cigarettes were the same price, .25-30 cents! I quit smoking a long time ago but cigarettes are up to $8-10 a pack now! Gas never got that high!

Cheapest I remember was 27.9 in the early 70's. I remember one of our first trips with our first motorhome, gas was $1.39/gal in New York. I vowed right there to get rid of the RV and never pay that much again. That was 3 RV's ago.

Seymour, TN. $2.399 at Food City for regular, $2.249 with shopper discount assuming I have a redeemable reward, but $2.099 on Wednesday as it is double rewards day assuming I have two rewards. Limit 20 gallons no matter what. There are also random triple-rewards Wednesdays, so that would bring the price down to $1.949 assuming I have 3 rewards.

I was way too young to drive in the mid 60's but I do remember the prices being .23 cent during the "gas wars" between stations. I remember the S & H Green Stamps and the yellow Top Value Stamps. I always thought the Green Stamps tasted good when putting them in the booklets.

Cigarettes are somewhere around $13 for Marlboro around here. I quit over 6 years ago but Marlboro still sends me coupons every once in a while. They sent me 6 - $3 off a pack yesterday, I gave all of them to some elderly lady at the grocery store today who smoked Marlboro...she was very appreciative.

yes those days are gone - no change left for smokes or beer , but far better than the $4 stuff a=of the past admin , we shall live long enough to tell of this past experience at this point but we need to hold the government to get things back to normal , not sure that will happen and im getting too old to GAS

yet i do for my grandkids , they should not live like we did in the covid era or after

Let’s not forget when gas was 25-30 cents they also pumped the gas for you, washed your windshield and asked if you wanted the oil checked, 🤠

And it was fun as a kid when you ran over the hose to "ding" the attendant!
