Nickle Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 There is nothing like a real colt first gen. Reproductions no matter how good or worked on are just not the same thing. It's hard to explain. It's same thing with a real Sharps ,Henry or Winchester. But the early Colts, Wow! Presentation guns all engraved with fancy grips do nothing for me. They are like trailer queens at a car show. I like real guns that were used by normal men who made history. Working guns that went the distance. 2 Quote

But I bought a cheaper gun.😢 Can you imagine the VALUE of that gun today? It’s HISTORY?? 1 Quote

I had a 1928A1 and an M1A1 Tommy guns in 'Nam. They are a hoot to shoot and I would take either one (or both) in a heart beat.....but if money was not an object and I had a carrier vehicle of some kind, and a place to shoot, it would have to be my favorite lady, Ma Deuce. And I'd have to hire someone to clean it, carry it around, and pick up the brass. 2 1 2 Quote

Rip Snorter Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Always wanted a classic African caliber double rifle. Price and lack of any conceivable need the only barriers. I do have a couple of African caliber bolt guns, also not needed, but they don't quite make it. Too much Capstick! Quote

Doc Shapiro Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Strangely enough, I don't really have one. I have a pair of dream guns. A Devel full bore model 39, and also a Devel worked over 1911 (1942 vintage, stamped "PROPERTY OF US ARMY). There's nothing really on my list, though wife wants me to pick up a really big revolver for hiking in the woods in case of big 4 legged critters. Spring will see me getting a Ruger Alaskan in 454. 2 Quote

ShadowCatcher Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 (edited) Back in the day shooting 35mm film I longed for a 35mm that would expand to 4x5 when placed in the developer, a clear case of unobtainium. Now it's simpler; I already have gotten half way there. My prize .45 SAA is one the late Eddie Janis did for me - a blue/cc 7.5" with presentation grade walnut stocks and his phenomenal trigger work, but I would love to have the same gun with a Black Powder frame and in all Royal Blue. Beyond that I'm already happy. SC Edited December 11, 2025 by ShadowCatcher 2 Quote
