I was just thinking about Roy Rogers.

When they decided to make Roy Rogers the King of the Cowboys and Dale Evans the Queen of the West, they figured it would not be a problem because Dale was from Texas. Of course she knew how to ride a horse.

Uhhh, no. Texas yes, but a city girl.

But I understand their reasoning. It just seems that somebody from Texas should be at home on a horse. No reason, but it just SEEMS that it should be.

And exactly what does that have to do with the price of duck eggs in China?

There are around 750,000 horses in Texas.

So even if every horse was shared with 5 people you’re only getting 3.7 million riders in the state. Meaning less than 12% of the population could ride.

yes, that’s a wild guess, but I’d bet less than 10% are riders.

When I was young, I bought a horse from a friend of mine. Not a full size one but a POA gelding; bigger than a shetland though. We lived in a regular subdivision but on the edge of it was some vacant land and some farm land. A land owner let me corral my pony there while I had him.  My older brother had a paper route; The Fort Worth Press, no longer in business. I took the route from him when he decided to give it up. Sometimes, I would throw papers from my pony.  Other than that, I've only ridden a horse a few times.

I wonder how many people from FL can't swim?

Darn few folks in Texas can ride a horse.  Same same for folks in Florida who can't swim.  The "King of the Cowboys" - - Wasn't and the Queen of The West wasn't either.  so there we have the quandary.  What, if anything, does any of this thread mean??  Does anyone really care??  Who's playing football today and being televised.  A much bigger issue!!

My father couldn't, but he was from Georgia. Mama couldn't, so she learned how. And she was from Nebraska.

I can, but I don't. Have not been swimming in decades. As a child I enjoyed it but once I grew up - there were better things to do.

And actually, I believe a more comparable question would be

How many people in Florida grow oranges?

Or maybe

How many people in California work in the movies, or how many people in Maine fish for lobster?

Or how many people in Nevada gamble?

Sort of the first thing you think of when you think of that state.

Then there is always "The State of Confusion."  How many in that state are really confused 🤪

Ooops.  I till have to look up who's playing football today.

Browns vs Titans at 1:00, well I won’t be watching but I’ll check the score occasionally 😂😔

I am a Texan and have ridden horses for over 50 years. I would say with all the imports we are getting from CA and NY there are a lot of people in Texas that don't even know what a horse is. 😞

It is sad

All equitable comparisons.........no doubt.
