Tulsey, SASS#11236 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Gun Club I belong to just had a $5,000 increase in insurance premium with no claims to changes. Has anyone else got hit like this. We paid the bill, but it made me want to look at other venders. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Quote
Rip Snorter Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Check what the NRA offers. May be useful. Quote
Frontier Lone Rider Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I have been lucky in that the two clubs which I helped start were on a larger sporting organizations range and had NRA Insurance. We simply got our insurance through the host club, which in both instances was through the NRA. We never had a jump in price as you are describing. Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I forgot to include, normally, when an insurer hits a client with a huge increase in premium, for no real reason, it's because the insurer really doesn't want that business. They (the insurer) were probably surprised the club didn't cancel. As mentioned above, the club should probably go shopping for a new insurer in any case. 2 Quote

Smokin Gator SASS #29736 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 We have one very small club that is on a city owned range. It's in their water project. It can only be used for matches on weekends. No use at all during the week. The city was trying to set specific requirements that didn't meet what the insurers offered. I'm thinking about the other ranges with hundreds of members and daily usage being able to get insurance. The city finally came to their senses and accepted the available insurance. Quote
Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 For about 15 years I was the treasurer for the club that hosts our Cowboy club. One of the things I learned is that in addition to the physical assets that are insured, the liability insurance is dependent on the number of members at the Host Club, not just the Cowboy stuff. When we went from 900 to 1200+ members, our insurance jumped considerably. The last time I saw the numbers, which was 5+ years ago, the cost of our insurance was north of $25K per year and I suspect it's closer to $30K these days. I'm sure that living in the Gun Hating Peoples Republic Of Maryland and in the most Gun Hating County in that State doesn't help either, but Insurance for a Gun Range of any type isn't cheap and it's not going to get any cheaper, at least not in my lifetime, and I may be getting up there but... Two Shoots Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 https://bestshotinsurance.com We just switched to these folks a few months back due to our previous carrier raising prices. We had Lockton give us a quote also but Best Shot had better coverage and pricing. 2 Quote

Thought about going back to work but nobody wanted any old guy that was too expensive. So I just bit the bullet and said I am retired. Haven't looked back. It took me about 2 days to fill up my days and wondered how I ever had time to work. LOL TM 3 Quote

LOL TM yes , i was "retired" in 13 - hated it and went back to work in 16 for another company , lasted till covid , now im really retired - 76 - been working part time at the gun club for fun and gun money since 05 , thats why im thinking my time is limited , nothing hard or taxing about what i do there now , i work the counter these days , started as an RSO at the range and RO for special events we used to have under pervious owner , that was sometimes a bit more taxing as we are all outdoors here , im currently the longest running employee of all , i like everyone i work with there 1 Quote

If we could be insured from liability, the line to sign up would be very, very long. Quote
