watab kid Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 im not a fan - dont get me wrong , i like my swearers but ill do without ugly ones , i do get the fun of holiday things that involve them but i nebver get invited to those things anymore - thats a young person thing and im far from a young person anymore , n my family [and my wife's actually] there was an elder - everyone called him the old curmudgeons , he was the eldest - the elder of the family in the 80s-90s , when i met him in the 90s , we [my wife and i] were about the middle aged , had young kids still and were still looked on as the young by these elders in idaho , we atayed with he and his wife one trip out there , it was the first time he and i had ,met , we drank beer , smoked cigars and talked on the topics of the times - by the end of the evening he told me that he knew everyone in the family thought of him as an old curmudgeon , he said it was OK he wore it proudly and he told me he was from that point on calling me the young curmudgeon , ive worn that proudly , h had been the general in charge of the base in the idaho falls area , i dont think we spent that time on the patio as idily as i thought we were , i didnt know it at the time but i think i was being interviewed for acceptance to that side of the family , i liked all of them from the moment i met them , but then oim a lot more receptive to new people than some , particularly those that rise to the rank of general before retiring ....he was retired at that time , but only for a year or so Quote
